About This Role

Strava is the leading social platform for athletes and the largest sports community in the world, with over 100 million athletes in 195 countries. If you sweat, you’re an athlete, and Strava’s mobile apps and website connect millions of active people every day.

Our team is looking for a Senior Digital Marketing Manager to build and own Strava’s paid media strategy from the ground up — expanding our global community of authentic athletes and having a tremendous impact on our business momentum. A rare, compelling opportunity to build a function and a team from 0 to 1 within an already beloved brand.

Motivated by learning and experimentation, you’ll partner with Product, Analytics, CRM, Brand, and Product Marketing teams (and partnering agencies!) to strategize, oversee, implement, and optimize our media channels across the entirety of the customer journey — from acquisition to retention, and everything in-between. Not to mention, with an incredible group of inspiring teammates (or, as we like to call them internally, Stravioli’s) to your left and right.

You’re passionate about this opportunity because you will:

  • Rebuild what digital media means at Strava, creating and striving toward a vision that you’ll set for how we drive athlete engagement and revenue through paid channels.
  • Experiment and learn (and experiment some more) to create benchmarks and an understanding of the digital landscape that’ll inspire new programming and initiatives.
  • Pioneer innovative new channels and technologies that act as powerful new growth levers for the business, from registrations to subscriptions.
  • Create a holistic experience for Strava athletes on and off the platform, partnering with a beautifully intelligent group of people to do so across Product, Growth, CRM, and more.

You will be successful here by:

  • Driving growth for the business — both immeasurably in how we utilize and influence paid channels and measurably across our topline revenue objectives.
  • Guiding sophistication in our approach to audience segmentation, ad spend management, campaign optimization, and channel attribution.
  • Putting the athlete at the center of your work, ensuring a positive, engaging, relevant digital experience with our user base.
  • Approaching your work with creativity and an open mind, continually experimenting with new campaign approaches that inspire athletes and grow the business.
  • Challenging the status quo, helping to drive inclusivity, examine bias, and drive forward progress on our anti-racism commitments through your work and approach.

We’re excited about you because:

  • You have 6+ years of experience working on digital marketing, with a proven track record of driving high year over year growth, executing high-quality campaigns, and maximizing the efficiency of the ad spend you’re managing.
  • You’re ready to take the next step in your career, starting as an individual contributor with the potential to grow a team under you as you help Strava grow.
  • You’ve worked on customer acquisition strategies for mobile apps and can build effective marketing funnels across paid search, app store optimization, display and social, with app download as a key part of the customer journey.
  • You’re not afraid to get into the details, and can step in and manage campaigns on online ad management platforms when necessary.
  • You can assess current paid media capabilities and develop a roadmap to evolve them, coordinating with marketing and product growth teams to achieve your team’s vision.
  • You have experience working with external agencies from the selection process to day-to-day agency management. And you can set up processes that ensure agency work is always clearly connected to our marketing priorities and brand guidelines.
