About the Role

This role is the first financial step in admitting patients into Charlie Health. It’s the clients, or families, first connection to the financial side of treatment, which is a stressful piece of the process for most. We must explain, understand, and empathize with our potential clients and the stress associated with receiving care. This role represents Charlie Health by being kind, thoughtful, and patient through the financial piece of the admissions process.

Responsibilities 

  • Evaluate verification of benefits data and put together cost estimates for potential clients in
    accordance with policy benefits and contracted rates.
  • Make outbound calls to incoming clients to discuss insurance coverage, patient responsibility, and
    work out payment arrangements.
  • Take incoming calls and field financial related inquiries.
  • Act as a liaison between multiple departments including Utilization Review, Admissions, and Billing
  • Respond to internal inquiries and serve as a financial point of contact for all potential and active clients.
  • Consulting across teams, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge.
  • Execute payment arrangements upon admission in accordance with patient Financial Agreements
  • Follow up with clients in active census who have termed insurance, unsigned financial agreements, and declined payment plans.
  • Facilitate financial discharges in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with other departments, front end staff regarding billing issues and trends to work 
    toward an account resolution and decrease insurance denial percentages.

Requirements

  • A basic understanding of behavioral health terminology
  • Knowledge of medical billing practices, office policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of all confidentially requirements regarding patients and strict maintenance of proper confidentiality on all such information
  • Proficiency in computer skills including typing speed and accuracy 
  • Mathematics skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Organizational skills 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of medical information 
  • Strict attention to details 
  • 3-5 years related work experience in health care administrative, financial, insurance, customer services, claims, billing, call center, or management
  • Able to work a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week in our Nashville office and located within 75 minutes' commuting distance of the office
