About the right team member

In this role you will be responsible for administering a full suite of health and welfare benefits for team members located in the United States and around the world. Mindbody’s benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life, Section 125, tax-advantaged spending accounts, and disability insurances, along with retirement or pension plans, a range of leave programs, and advice on global holidays. 

The Sr. Manager, Global Benefits oversees a global benefits team. The role is accountable for ensuring the execution of day-to-day benefits management & wellness activities for all team members around the world. You will serve as a subject matter expert on a wide range of benefits topics, ensuring that the benefits team provides accurate and timely information to staff, while also ensuring programs remain compliant with relevant laws and regulations. You will leverage your deep experience and understanding of global programs to provide strategic direction and thought partnership and execution of these significant programs and initiatives. With your passion for continuous improvement and driving an amazing employee experience and competitive benefits programs, you will be part of our exceptional team supporting our global employees. 

About the role

  • Develop the strategic direction of the benefits, leave and wellness program design based on analyzing the effectiveness of current benefit offerings, makes recommendations for changes that will achieve ROI, and ensure our package attracts and retains top talent.
  • Assesses the benefits market to identify trends and best practices. Evaluate and recommend changes to carriers, plan design, and costing as needed. 
  • Develops and maintains productive vendor and broker relationships, to ensure adherence to contracts, excellent levels of service and satisfactory resolution to issues.
  • Ensures wellness programs are innovative, comprehensive, and integrated with the benefits program.
  • Work closely with DEI and ERG leaders to ensure communities across our company feel supported by our benefits and wellness programs.
  • Leads the annual open enrollment processes across our global offerings including communications, presentations, and financial review.
  • Oversees recordkeeping, ensuring that benefit files are maintained in a systematic, confidential, and compliant format.
  • Leads planning and delivery of in-person and virtual benefit and wellness activities and events. This includes identifying and arranging vendors, activities, staffing, communication, registration, and follow-up.
  • Partners with Internal Communications to develop communication and education strategies that will create and enhance awareness and understanding among employees of benefit offerings and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts annual review and dissemination of benefit materials including summaries, overviews, guides, notices, and forms.
  • Manage the Benefits and Leave inboxes and internal communication channels and serve as the escalation point for benefit inquiries, providing high quality, quick, equitable, and courteous resolutions.
  • Proactively monitor all legal and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., reporting, disclosure, procedures, audits) for benefits and wellbeing programs at the global, federal, state, and local levels.
  • Accurately and timely execute compliance requirements associated with regulations in the US (such as ERISA, ADA, FMLA, ACA, HIPAA) and other countries.
  • Identifies and addresses opportunities to ensure internal controls are in place, streamlines processes, increases efficiencies, and utilizes technology to promote adherence to applicable laws.
  • Create, monitor, and evaluate successful marketing campaigns designed to engage and educate team members
  • Seek out innovative approaches to increase participation and overall employee engagement in benefits programs
  • Engage and promote data strategy and the use of metrics to evaluate employee participation and engagement, program effectiveness, and outcomes, as well as to ensure competitiveness and comprehensiveness in the market
  • All other duties as assigned 

Skills & experience

  • Strongy experience building and managing benefits and wellness programs across the globe
  • Management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, create inclusive work environments, and work effectively within a culturally diverse environment. Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent education/experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience administering self-funded health and welfare insurance plans.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the relevant laws, regulations, and other compliance requirements for health and welfare benefits in the U.S. and other countries. U.S. compliance requirements include but are not limited to the regulations set forth by ERISA, ADA, FMLA, ACA, HIPAA, GINA, EEOC, COBRA.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external clients, and tailor communication style to diverse audiences with cultural nuances.
  • Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and external clients from diverse backgrounds, including members of company leadership, key global stakeholders, auditors, benefit vendors, and insurance brokers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated critical thinker with excellent judgment.
  • Self-directed with ability to prioritize multiple tasks/competing deadlines simultaneously and deliver results.
  • Highly proficient in planning, coordinating, promoting, and evaluating Benefits-related events and programs
  • Previous experience successfully marketing benefits concepts through a variety of communication methods and technologies to a diverse audience
  • Advanced proficiency with Outlook, other Microsoft Office tools, and commonly used project management tools (Wrike, etc.)  
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Ability to influence others
