The Role:

Reporting into the Head of People Business Partnering, the Senior People Business Partner – Tech, is a new role at the heart of our People team responsible for our Tech across Genius and Second Spectrum team. Partnering closely with the leadership team, they will be people-first, collaborative, and create an environment that is productive, meaningful, inclusive and enjoyable for all of our people.

Second Spectrum was acquired by Genius Sports to combine technologies and distribution capable of revolutionizing the sports fan’s experience. Second Spectrum’s technology may be found in the world’s leading sports leagues and sports distributors. The group has won multiple Emmy’s for contribution to sports technology and broadcast. 

Whilst we expect you to be based in New York City, the role has a truly global focus, and you will partner with key stakeholders in the People team and company to shape and implement our strategy to harness our incredible talent.

Main Responsibilities:

  • People strategy and roadmap. Work with key stakeholders to assess People needs and objectives and partner to build an effective People roadmap to support the wider business strategy. While focused on Tech across Genius and Second Spectrum, you will always have an eye to scalability, implementing best practice that can be effectively adapted and rolled out across other areas of Genius.
  • Partnering. Provide coaching, advice and practical support to managers at all levels in your functions, and act as a key link between the People team and the wider company. Have oversight of employee relations matters in your area and partner with People Operations to ensure that they are resolved pragmatically, efficiently and cost-effectively, leading on sensitive/higher-value issues and liaising with stakeholders (management, legal counsel etc).
  • Performance and development. Drive the developing and embedding of a true performance culture and framework throughout (through system design and performance management, goal setting, competency frameworks, career pathways etc). Be an effective coach and sounding board who can equip managers to inspire top performance across their teams. Understand what people processes the area already has in place and adapt these with a view of streamlining and/or reflecting best practice. Drive positive improvement throughout all areas, being unafraid to really delve into the inner workings and to implement positive change.
  • Change management. Work with stakeholders to advise on, manage and implement key organisational change projects and people initiatives, including integration culturally, operationally and legally. Understand and provide advice on the psychological aspects of change on behaviour. Advocate for the positive aspects of change and equip managers and leaders with the skills to engage and bring their team with them through change.

 

Required Skills:

We are looking for energetic, experienced HR operators within a tech business within the following profile:

  • Smart, effective and commercial, with the experience and pragmatism to drive positive change to meet the commercial needs of the company. Resilient and comfortable in a fast-moving, fluid environment.
  • Excellent at building relationships. Able to effectively work with and gain the trust of stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization – a team player with credibility and a sense of humour.
  • Strong communication skills: clear, accurate and to the point, both verbally and in writing. Versatile in your approach, able to deal with a range of smart and questioning stakeholders with their own needs.
  • A cool head and flexible approach, able to manage rapidly developing situations and company priorities. Proactive, can-do attitude, willing to get stuck in and take charge of tasks big or small.
  • Demonstrable track record in:
    • successful partnering with senior stakeholders to understand needs and deliver innovative, effective solutions that are scalable in a global and divisionally complex tech company;
    • leading projects and effectively implementing organisational change (including large-scale mergers and acquisitions);
    • smart use of data to identify issues, target people-related action plans and demonstrate impact.
    • Working within an acquired business and integrating structure’s as well as ways of working whilst being solutions focused in ironing out cultural differences, if applicable

The salary for this role is based on an annualized range of $125,000 - $150,000 USD. This role will also be eligible to take part in Genius Sports Group's benefits plan.
