About This Role

Strava is the leading digital community for active people with more than 120 million athletes, in more than 190 countries. The platform offers a holistic view of your active lifestyle, no matter where you live, which sport you love and/or what device you use. Everyone belongs on Strava when they are pursuing an active life.

At Strava, we’ve got a mission to connect the world through movement, and we’re committed to providing the endless motivation for athletes of all levels to live their best active life. To further this mission, we’re hiring a college student or recent college grad to lead marketing efforts for a one-of-kind university-focused marketing campaign to spread awareness of Strava, specifically the Strava Student Plan, and drive participation in a unique collegiate competition that takes place exclusively on Strava.

This is a part-time contract position that will be paid hourly at $32/hour and requires approximately 20 hours a week for 12 weeks from early August to late October; total hours may vary week to week. This role is a remote position but may require some travel during the campaign.

The ideal candidate is (or was):

  • A community organizer who knows how to raise awareness on campus and bring students together around new experiences and programs. Understands the intersection of digital and grassroots marketing and how to recruit and rally campus influencers and ambassadors.
  • A born leader who isn’t afraid of getting in touch with new people or partners to spread the word, coordinate physical and virtual events, and create buzz.
  • Digitally savvy. Comfortable with the fundamentals of digital marketing (email, web, social media, etc.) and knows how to demonstrate them to build and execute a marketing plan.
  • Masterful with relationships. Has experience with high-touch relationships and/or outreach and timely communication with multiple people or partners at a time.
  • Creative with content. Knows how to create content or develop new ideas for content in a creative, authentic way that drives awareness with a collegiate audience.
  • Meticulously organized. Can manage multiple projects and relationships at once without skipping a beat or missing any details. The type of person who loves to organize their Google Drive, takes pride in their folder naming conventions, and regularly gets to inbox zero.
  • Recreationally athletic in college, playing intramural, club, or varsity sports and/or staying active through running, cycling or other activities. Understands how to reach/engage students through the fitness/sports scene on campus.

Preferred requirements:

  • Passion for sports and fitness
  • A senior in college or a recent college graduate
  • Uses Strava regularly and familiar with its features and functionality
  • Strong working knowledge of the Google Suite and Dropbox
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to consistently dedicate 15-25 hours per week
  • Familiar with a range of marketing techniques
  • A self-starter who is entrepreneurial and action oriented

Application Questions

Please provide a brief (~200 words or less) to each of the following questions to help us review your skills and experience.

  • What is the most entrepreneurial thing you’ve led or participated in? Please explain the project/initiative, how you brought it to life, and the results. Your example can be a campus/college project or anything you’ve operationalized with little-to-no structure or resources.
  • How would you find and recruit campus ambassadors or students in a fun fitness competition (primarily running and cycling), where the stakes are high and school spirit and pride is the biggest prize?
  • Why are you interested in fueling awareness and adoption of STRAVA among college students? What do you think college students are looking for in a fitness app, and how do you think Strava can help more students discover and utilize Strava to find a new or enhance an existing fitness routine in college?
