About the Role

As a 2D Spine Animator, you’ll help bring our new mobile title to life through polished, engaging, and responsive animations across characters, UI, props, and in-game elements.

While character animation remains an important part of the role, you’ll also play a key role in creating satisfying interface feedback, interactive moments, and secondary animations that enhance the overall player experience.

Working closely with game designers, artists, and developers, you’ll ensure animations feel cohesive, rewarding, and well integrated into gameplay.

What You’ll Do

• Provide 2D character animations from concept to final implementation, creating a memorable and expressive cast of characters using Spine.
• Create and implement high-quality prop animations that enhance gameplay feedback, environmental storytelling, and overall visual polish.
• Create visually appealing and rewarding animations that align with the game’s feel direction and brand identity.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, artists, and developers to ensure seamless integration of your animations in the game engine.
• Create a library of animations for research and/or future implementations.
• Work closely with the Art Director to maintain visual consistency and improve the overall aesthetic quality.
• Optimize animations for different screen resolutions and mobile platforms.
• Stay up to date on animation trends in casual mobile games and other platforms while continually pushing for innovation and excellence.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience as a 2D Animator, Spine Animator, or in a similar role within the mobile and/or gaming industry (casual games experience highly preferred).
• Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality animations for mobile and/or AAA titles, from concept to final in-game execution.
• Expertise in Spine and strong proficiency with supporting tools such as Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Unity, or similar pipelines.
• Strong understanding of 2D rigging, mesh deformation, skinning, and animation workflows.
• Excellent understanding of acting, body mechanics, squash and stretch, timing, anticipation, and expressive character animation principles.
• Strong instinct for timing, weight, and appealing movement.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills. You thrive in a small, fast-moving team environment.
• Experience working closely with developers and familiarity with implementation constraints in Unity or similar engines.
• Deep interest in and active use of AI tools, especially those related to animation.

Nice to Have

• Experience animating props, VFX, UI elements, and secondary motion.
• Familiarity with Unity UI animation workflows and particle systems.
• Passion for games and player psychology.
