We are recruiting for Review Operators and Match Day Technology roles within our AFL and AFLW department. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of sports technology as part of a dedicated and dynamic team. The role involves set up of hardware and software as part of our AFL & AFLW operations.
We will provide you with technical training, support, and full exposure to our systems, enabling you to perform your day-to-day tasks while also encouraging progression to make an impact on our operations and your development.,
This is a casual role, primarily involving weekend work based around AFL and AFLW match fixtures, though you may occasionally be rostered for weekday shifts.
Arrive on site approximately 6 hours before the match (expected to reduce as the season progresses)
Meet and coordinate with the onsite team (2–3 staff plus a remote technical guarantee)
Move equipment from venue storage to the OB compound and key venue locations
Set up hardware in the OB compound, including power and vision connections to the broadcast truck
Run and connect venue cabling between operational areas (e.g. OB, benches, cameras, goal posts, Score Assist station)
Configure and test technical equipment at designated service locations
Liaise with the offsite technical team for software deployment and system checks
During the match, operate in one of two roles:
Onsite Technician – monitor systems, maintain services, and troubleshoot issues with support from the technical guarantee
System Operator – operate the Score Assist system alongside AFLW officials, providing video replay support for scoring decisions
As of the 2026 season of AFLW, Service’s provided are as follows:
Pitchside Injury Review system for Home, Away and Middle benches (AFL neutral doctor)
Remote Access review system for Match Review and Medical from the ARC
2x 4k Ultrawide cameras into all viewers (for full game full pitch coverage)
Archived vision of all camera angles (Broadcast and Ultrawide) for all quarters
Score Assist review station
Goal Post Camera installation and management
Setting up Hawk-Eye technology on-site
Conducting pre-match checks of the systems in accordance with standard procedures;
Liaising with league and match officials, stadium/club personnel, match officials and host broadcasters on-site
Monitoring and operating Hawk-Eye software during an AFLW or AFL match;
Monitoring hardware and software performances, being able to troubleshoot and report encountered issues
Work with our remote team to proactively address technical issues
Taking full ownership of our system on-site and being an ambassador for Hawk-Eye
Completing post-match reports, and issues reporting post-game to improve future operations
Assist with installation and maintenance of on-site equipment where required
A strong technical grounding
Innovative thinking, with excellent problem-solving skills
Proactive attitude and ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision
Time management skills and ability to work in a high-pressure, procedural, live broadcast environment
Ability to liaise with clients and customers in a professional and approachable manner with attention to good communication
An interest in sport and/or sports analysis, ideally with a good knowledge of AFL and other codes
Proactive motivation and desire to learn new skills whilst building upon what you already have to offer
Able to adapt to flexible working conditions with irregular working days including weekends and longer days
Up to this point, while there may be many things that you find intriguing about this role, it does not come without its challenges which should be taken into account:
Working Hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and occasionally midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the final whistle and takedown is complete.
High-Pressure Situations: Working in a live broadcast environment on a production that is distributed to millions worldwide will bring high levels of pressure.
We will do our best to train and equip you to the best possible level to help with these, however it is important to consider how you naturally navigate high-pressure environments, and whether this fast-paced role is the right fit for you.
