LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. Associate, Circular Economy:

The LA28 Sustainability team is responsible for working across the organization and a wide range of external stakeholders to deliver a more environmentally sustainable Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028.  Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, the Circular Economy Associate role will assist in developing and implementing LA28’s Circular Economy Plan and sustainability programs organization wide. This role spans measurement and reporting, project management, employee engagement, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and project management support for the implementation of LA28’s Circular Economy commitments across planning and operations. 
  •  Support the development, review, and coordination of organization-wide procurement and contract materials to ensure circularity principles are embedded. 
  • Develop and support the rollout of internal sustainability training, guidance, and engagement materials for LA28 staff and contractors.  
  • Support broader sustainability engagement initiatives with LA28 Games Venues, including planning and execution of LA28’s annual Venue Sustainability Summit. 
  • Conduct desktop research, data collection, and administrative tasks to support circular economy, waste, and sustainability initiatives. 
  • Assist with sustainability communications across multiple platforms, including internal updates, presentations, and external-facing materials as needed.

Background & Requirements:

  • 3+ years of full-time work experience in corporate sustainability, sustainability consulting, or a related field  
  • Experience or interest in sustainability, circular economy, and waste reduction initiatives  
  • Demonstrated experience project managing complex projects to completion with minimal oversight  
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently  
  • Strong writing skills with a high level of attention to detail   
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills  
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills 

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental studies) or equivalent work experience.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Will be required to be in the office up to 4-5 days per week work in an open office setting in Los Angeles, CA 
  • Sitting/Standing: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.  
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in typing and using office equipment, including computers, printers, and phones.  

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,500.00 - $82,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
