  • Job Title: Associate Convention Programming Manager (Bilingual)
  • Job Summary: Support the Manager of Convention Programming & Japanese Business Management in translating and interpreting Japanese/English, and communication with overseas counterparts.
  • FLSA Classification (US Only): Exempt

What you’ll do

  • Support the Manager in translating emails, business documents, pitches, and reports in Japanese/English.
  • Support the Manager in interpreting for business meetings which contain esports tournament terminology and systems
  • Communicate with partner companies in London, Japan, Korea, and China under the Manager’s supervision.
  • Be on-site during events to provide translation and interpretation support, as needed.
  • Review, edit and maintain localization of guidelines, rules, and regulations of esports tournaments.
  • Develop deep understanding of Pokémon games, communities, and their tournament/management system.
  • Understand relationships with overseas partner companies and provide smooth communication to support the team.
  • Establish and maintain communication between overseas counterparts and vendors to make sure our events meet their requirements/needs.
  • Work with the Manager to create strategies to get approval on convention programming from overseas stakeholders.

 What you’ll bring

  • At least 2 years of experience in professional Japanese/English translation and interpretation.
  • 2+ years of experience in the gaming/esports industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with esports and tournament terms/words.
  • Understanding of both the U.S. and Japanese culture in general.
  • Understanding of Japanese business culture, structure, and manner.
  • Ability to translate and interpret without supervision.
  • Be fluent in Japanese respect words (敬語).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft tools. (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to work under pressure and under challenging timelines.
  • Team player with ability to work with various groups across multiple organizations.
  • Ability of fast learning.

  • Base salary range: For this role, new hires generally start between $83,000 - $97,805. The full range is $83,000 - $123,000. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
