Triathlete is looking for a part-time Associate Editor to support the leading voice in today’s multisport world. Put your passion for triathlon, writing, editing, and digital production in front of hundreds of thousands of fans of the sport. At Triathlete, you won’t just follow the trends, you’ll be a part of leading them.  

Within 1 month, you will: 

• Onboard and Integrate: Work closely with the Outside Endurance team to understand Triathlete's content strategy, workflow, and style guidelines.
• Master WordPress: Gain proficiency in our content management system, focusing on content updates and light layout adjustments.
• Use SEO Fundamentals:  Employ the basics of SEO editing, including optimizing headlines, decks, and intros.
• Update Content:  Begin assisting with routine updates like race results, start lists, and ongoing coverage.

Within 6 months, you will: 

• Independently Produce Content:  Take ownership of sourcing art, formatting, and publishing articles within WordPress.
• Edit SEO Proficiently:  Perform light- to medium-level SEO edits on both original and syndicated content.
• Copyedit and Fact-Check:  Ensure the accuracy and quality of articles through meticulous copyediting and fact-checking.
• Pitch and Brainstorm:  Contribute to editorial discussions with timely and relevant ideas for Triathlete's coverage.
• Engage with Social Media:  Monitor social trends to identify emerging topics and potential story angles.

Within 12 months, you will: 

• Cover Events:  Join the team on-site at major events (potentially including Ironman World Championships), contributing to written and possibly video content.
• Expand Your Writing Opportunities:  Depending on availability and interest, take on writing assignments with pitch priority.
• Master Advanced SEO:  Guide and mentor others in SEO best practices, ensuring content is optimized for search.
• Strategically Plan:  Participate in editorial planning meetings, offering insights on content direction and audience engagement.
• Become a Brand Ambassador: Represent Triathlete's voice and values in written content and potentially in video/audio.

What YOU bring to Outside:  (Preferred Qualifications)

• In-depth knowledge of triathlon across racing, gear, training, and nutrition
• Strong copyediting and fact-checking skills
• Basic WordPress proficiency
• Working knowledge of SEO principles
• Ability to embody Triathlete's brand, voice, and values
• Passion for the sport and enthusiasm for sharing it with others at all levels

What We Offer:

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of  between $25 to $30 per hour.  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
