The Opportunity

This is an awesome opportunity for someone who wants to put their sports background to work.  You will work closely with event organizers, players and our internal team to deliver the highest quality tournaments. If you are looking for an opportunity to combine your passion for sports, preferably tennis, this may be the perfect job for you.  Plus you get to travel to some really cool places.

This is a full-time position based in the United States with travel, potentially for consecutive weeks. Should be based/anchored in Irvine/Orange County, CA. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Knowledge of a large range of medical problems for athletes age 16-30 years old in good physical condition.  Tennis specific experience preferred. Assessment, evaluation skills and experience working with other healthcare professionals
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play. 
  • Thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families. 
  • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with no supervision. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses both on and off court including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation. 
  • Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion. 
  • Documentation of all patient encounters. 
  • Coordinate and implement injury preventative strategies and programs to each patient during the tournament week(s)
  • Minimize risk of injury through awareness and prevention strategies during match days
  • Provide accommodation recommendations, related to tennis, with restrictions or limitations
  • Communicate with Referee, and patient/coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes and if needed doctor on call
  • Carry out medical care for athletes per the best practices and standard operating procedures. 
  • Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by supervisor/TD/Referee. 
  • Review/follow up of Medical Certificates across PTT events
  • Recruits and trains contracted Athletic Training Staff across US PTT events
  • Ensure staff has all certifications and licensure, oversee supply ordering/budget
  • Create Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and policy procedure manuals related to AT staff

NUMBER/DESCRIPTION OF PATIENTS (ATHLETES) RESPONSIBLE FOR: Typically 20 athletes a week on average during tournaments.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Position is based in Orange County California.  Travel Approximately 25-35% time. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $70,000 to $85,000. The final base salary for this role will take into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location differential associated with where the position will be filled.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Must be certified and possess California state athletic training license, etc. CPR and First Aid certified
    • Athletic Trainer Licensed State of California Upon Hire Required
    • Certified Athletic Trainer (AT_BOC) Upon Hire Required
    • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
