Sitting within the Administration Department, Payroll & Benefits (along Human Resources, Office Administration, Volunteers, Recruiting, and Workforce) aims to deliver the most engaging, innovative, and accessible World Cup experience for all athletes, fans, partners, and the community. Reporting organisationally to the Executive Director Administration, the Payroll & Benefits Manager will help serve Payroll & Benefit efforts for the FIFA World Cup 2026 that, for the first time ever, is hosting 48 teams and 1,200+ players across 3 countries and 16 venues. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing and efficient administration of employee benefits leading up to, during, and at the conclusion of the tournament. Further, this role will oversee payroll operations across all 3 countries (CDMX, Guadalajara & Monterrey) along with benefits administration for the FIFA World Cup 2026, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and maintaining efficient HR operations. The main responsibilities of the Payroll & Benefits Manager for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Mexico include:
- Attend extended regulatory audits: IMSS, SAT, INFONAVIT
- Collaborate with finance teams to reconcile payroll and benefits accounts, providing accurate data for financial reporting and audits.
- Oversee accurate payroll processing, including salaries, bonuses, and deductions, and ensure timely distribution to all FIFA World Cup 2026 staff.
- Manage payroll records, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and labor laws.
- Achieve local tax and regulatory compliance.
- Annual payroll budget generation
- Handle workforce inquiries and resolve issues related to payroll, benefits, and general compensation questions.
- Manage relocation process for new hires.
- Collaborate with HR teams to ensure accurate benefits enrolment, maintaining up-to-date employee information.
- Communicate with external benefit providers and oversee the administration of all benefits.
- Stay informed about changes in labor laws and regulations, adjusting payroll and benefits practices accordingly to ensure compliance.
- Provide expertise re: best-in-class payroll practices and resolutions as well as benefit options, assisting management in making informed decisions.
- Lead the preparation and distribution of payroll reports, summaries, and analyses for HR and Administration direction review.
- Ensure accurate recording of employee time and attendance, tracking leave balances, and coordinating with supervisors for approvals.
- Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process, communicating options and changes to employees, and addressing their inquiries.

Our requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or similar level of higher education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or related area, preferably with a multi-country, multi-state global employer
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processing, taxation, and benefits administration
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills, oral and written, to effectively interact with staff, benefit providers, and external partners
- Ability to analyze complex payroll and benefits data and make informed decisions
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and benefits information, while ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Minimum 2 years experience with Leave of Absence administration
- Experience with HRIS or payroll system implementation or systems transitions preferred
- Fluent in Spanish and Spanish
- Proficient in MS Office and planning software and online collaboration tools
