THE ROLE
PlayOn! Sports is looking for a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). You will be a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of our company's accounting function. You will play a critical role in financial strategy, reporting, and compliance, guiding the organization towards its financial objectives.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:
•Oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
•Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, providing insights to senior management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure timely completion of financial statements.
• Monitor key financial metrics and performance indicators, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, supporting decision-making and long-term planning initiatives.
• Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations, evaluating their impact on the organization and implementing necessary updates.
• Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
THE PERSON
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
• Proven track record of success in accounting leadership roles, with at least 15 years of experience in a senior accounting position.
• Deep understanding of accounting principles and practices, with expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
• Strong technical accounting skills with a deep understanding of GAAP/IFRS and experience researching and applying accounting standards.
