Job Description

MLB’s Event team in Japan leads local event initiatives across the market, aimed at growing the game of baseball among younger generations and expanding MLB’s fan base. With the goal of contributing to the growth of baseball participation through events, the role is responsible for end-to-end event operations, from concept development aligned with business objectives through planning, coordinating with various stakeholders, execution, and post-event reporting. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who can independently manage projects and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. In addition to core event programs, the role may also be asked to support operational execution for other MLB events and initiatives, both domestic and international. Flexibility and adaptability are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day communication and coordination with internal teams, external partners, vendors, venues, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of projects and events.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, operational documents, event materials, and other administrative resources required for planning, execution, and post-event recaps.
  • Provide on-site operational support for events, including event setup, stakeholder coordination, participant management, troubleshooting, and overall execution support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support the overall administration and operations of MLB CUP and PLAY BALL initiatives, assisting with scheduling, logistics, vendor management, participant communication, and other event-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience or knowledge in multiple event functions including vendor or agency coordination.
  • Fluent in both English and Japanese (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable team player with strong project management and organizational skills.

Contract Period

  • From as soon as possible through December 31, 2026.

Work Schedule

  • 5 days per week, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the MLB Tokyo Office (Overtime may be required depending on business needs).
  • Occasional night / early morning calls with MLB headquarter in New York.
  • Business travel required for both week days and weekend events.
  • Any weekend work will be offset with weekday compensatory time off.

Additional Information

  • This is an independent contractor position.
  • Transportation/ Business travel expenses covered separately.
  • Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and insurance.
