THE ROLE:
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the accounting operations, including reviewing and processing accounting transactions, compiling and analyzing financial reports, monitoring and enforcing internal controls, and conducting audits. This role involves providing strategic financial insights and support to the CFO and other executive leadership, with significant exposure to all phases of the accounting cycle. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, accounting processes, internal controls, and financial analysis tools and techniques, with a focus on leveraging technology to optimize accounting functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and manage the operations of the accounting department, including designing and implementing an organizational structure that aligns with departmental goals and objectives.
Oversee and review journal entries, accounts payable (A/P) transactions, and other accounting processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, managing the month-end close process, and performing G/L account reconciliations.
Maintain and organize accounting files, records, and documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and analyze monthly invoices, collections, and other financial transactions, providing insights to improve efficiency and cash flow management.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate year-end financials and other audits, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
Provide ad hoc financial analyses and reporting to support decision-making processes at the executive level.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong background in SaaS revenue recognition and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
Superior organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge of financial software programs.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
Prior experience with NetSuite or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

Experience in the sports media industry, demonstrating an understanding of industry dynamics, trends, and audience engagement.
