OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experiencedindividual to oversee the end-to-end process for developing and executing all packaging initiatives for various Alo products, ensuring best in class, cost effective, and elevated packaging designs and production. This role will work to develop functional on-brand packaging that resonates with our target markets, retain premium quality and comply with state health and safety regulations.

To ensure success as a packaging developer, you should be a strategic and analytical thinker and possess in-depth knowledge of packaging regulations, trims and fabrics. Our packaging developer should be able to understand micro/macro market trends and recommend and request product packaging solutions which fit the Alo design aesthetic and brand values while partnering cross-functionally with multiple internal teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Ideate, source, price out, and build timelines for packaging initiatives and development process, collecting all elements required for proper creative execution.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing and agreements with external vendors.
  • Influence and drive collaboration between cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation, cost savings, sustainability, and ensure optimization for design, materials, and processes, while staying on top of market trends and industry evolution.
  • Partner with the design and marketing teams to discuss packaging specifications and confirm budget parameters.
  • Create and communicate packaging requests to creative team with all necessary project details to ensure successful execution of packaging designs.
  • Run point on end-to-end packaging process as well as vetting all details regarding compliance and regulations and tracking project timelines.
  • Manage sampling development and reviews, final production and fulfillment/delivery process with vendors, factories and warehouses. Identify and communicate risks regarding supply chain and proactively identify and resolve gaps pertaining to sourcing and production.
  • Identify suitable packaging materials and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate as needed with graphic designers and copywriters to finalize all creative packaging elements, working together to uphold brand standards and consistency.
  • Partner with Creative Services team to review and present final designs to all stakeholders for approval.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience in packaging development, project management, global supply chain and/or procurement.
  • Experience managing packaging development in retail fashion, consumer goods, and personal care categories.
  • Proven expertise with product packaging negotiation, vendor relationship management, and knowledge of industry suppliers and providers.
  • Advanced organizational skills including attention to detail, prioritization, strategic thinking, and problem solving.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and proactive with ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment and build out advanced project timelines.
  • Experience collaborating and working cross-functionally across multiple facets of the business.
  • Experience and knowledge providing effective packaging solutions across a range of packaging deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of brand packaging standards and technical requirements.
  • Experience with market research and packaging trends.
  • Knowledge of global consumer packaging health and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Proficient with 3D design software including CAD or AutoCAD.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with PLM is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
