Role Overview: We are looking for a Digital Business Analyst to join our Digital Technology team. Reporting into our Lead Analyst, this role will support the discovery, analysis and documentation of digital product and platform changes across F1, translating business goals into clear, testable requirements and artefacts in Jira and Confluence that align with F1’s architecture standards and delivery governance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: Discovery & Analysis Participate in discovery for new features and changes (workshops, interviews, requirements reviews).Gather, clarify and document functional and non‑functional requirements in Confluence.
Experience working in multi‑vendor or outsourced delivery models, coordinating analysis work across partners.
Familiarity with: Analytics and tracking (GA4, tagging specifications, events and properties).
Test management tools (e.g. Testmo) and real‑time bug capture tools (e.g. Shake) in conjunction with Jira.
Experience contributing to: RFIs/RFPs, vendor assessments or supplier selection.
Continuous improvement of templates, standards or ways of working in a team.
Qualifications Not essential to be successful in the role but you may also have the following qualifications: Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g.
Digital, Marketing, Media, Business, Computing, Information Systems, Data/Analytics). Professional certifications or training in: Business Analysis (e.g. BCS, IIBA foundation‑level). Agile / Scrum (e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner, Scrum Master, or equivalent). Any training in: Data analysis / SQL fundamentals. UX, service design, or design thinking. Cloud or digital platform fundamentals (e.g. AWS, Azure, Salesforce). Knowledge & Skills Prior to the role it is essential that you demonstrate: Core BA skills Writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
Using templates and standards to maintain consistency. Tools and platforms Confident use of Jira for backlog and delivery tracking. Confident use of Confluence for structured documentation, including linking to Jira tickets. Comfortable with basic collaboration tools (e.g. whiteboards, shared docs, Teams/Slack). Analysis & modelling Ability to interpret basic data and metrics to inform decisions (e.g. user behaviour, incident patterns). Understanding of simple process and data flows – how information moves between systems. Awareness of non‑functional considerations (e.g. performance, reliability, privacy) at a basic level. Stakeholder & communication Ability to explain requirements and options in a clear, concise way – verbally and in writing.
Experience capturing and playing back stakeholder feedback, decisions and trade‑offs.
Comfortable contributing to workshops and meetings, not just attending. Ways of working & governance Familiarity with agile or iterative delivery methods. Ability to follow and contribute to delivery governance processes (e.g. change control, approvals, readiness checks). Understanding of the link between requirements, development, testing, UAT and go‑live.
Personal Qualities In this role it is essential that you are: Structured and organised – able to bring order to complex information and keep documentation tidy and up to date. Clear communicator – comfortable explaining requirements and decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Collaborative – enjoy working with product, engineering, QA, data, operations and vendors, and open to feedback. Curious and analytical – naturally dig into “why” and “how”, not just “what”, and use data where available. Adaptable – willing to adjust as new information emerges, and comfortable iterating on documents and scope. Detail‑conscious – pay attention to edge cases, dependencies and impacts without losing sight of the bigger picture. Proactive – raise risks, gaps and questions early rather than waiting for them to surface in testing or production. Respectful of governance and standards – understand that templates, patterns and processes exist to make delivery safer and more predictable. Calm under pressure – able to support race‑day / event‑driven work, managing incidents and changes in a controlled way when required. Career Progression - Where Can You Go Next? Senior Business Analyst Take end‑to‑end ownership for complex initiatives (e.g. AI‑powered assistants, cross‑platform fan experiences).
Lead discovery, solution shaping and testing strategy across multiple teams and vendors. Mentor other analysts and help define team standards and practices Alternative paths, depending on interests and strengths: Product Management – focusing on strategy, roadmaps and value outcomes. Solution / Data – deepening technical design and data modelling skills.
Delivery / Project Management – focusing on planning, governance and cross‑team coordination. Opportunities to specialise in areas such as: Data and analytics (in collaboration with DataOps). QA/UAT and quality governance (partnering with the Digital Test & QA Manager). Vendor management and procurement‑heavy initiatives.
