ANZ Bloodstock News is a free, leading daily news source dedicated to the Australasian bloodstock industry.

Read daily by owners, breeders, trainers, and bloodstock industry professionals, ANZ Bloodstock News provides racing and breeding news from Australia and New Zealand, as well as racing news and results from Hong Kong, Singapore, and Macau, offering a daily overview of breeding and racing news worldwide.

We are looking for a personable, engaging Digital Content Creator to join our team. This role involves operating both ANZ Bloodstock News' and Bloodstock Media's social channels, as well as those of our clients. There is also the opportunity to contribute from an editorial perspective, writing briefs and lead stories. You may be asked to create feature videos for both ANZ Bloodstock News and Bloodstock Media, using both phone and camera. Travel to Australasian thoroughbred sales, managing the social media accounts of Bloodstock Media clients in Melbourne, Sydney, the Hunter Valley, Gold Coast or international may also be required.

ANZ Bloodstock News is published seven days a week, with content from a wide range of internationally-based contributors. The successful candidate will work a flexible shift pattern, regularly covering weekends. Normal working hours are 9 am - 5 pm, Tuesday to Saturday, with flexibility to swap some Saturday shifts; however, working three Saturdays out of four is likely to be the norm.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage the social media channels owned and managed by ANZ Bloodstock News and Bloodstock Media, following guidelines set by the Business and Content Manager.
  • Respond to clients’ emails related to social media operations.
  • Create a monthly social media report in collaboration with the Racing Post Bloodstock Social Media Manager.
  • Write briefs and lead articles for the ANZ Bloodstock News Daily Edition.
  • Compile the social hub in the ANZ Bloodstock News Daily Edition, sourcing suitable photos and videos from Instagram and X.
  • Upload stories online via WordPress to the ANZ Bloodstock News website.
  • Work with Bloodstock Media clients, managing social media accounts and coordinating with the design team.
  • Create and edit videos using both phone and camera for ANZ Bloodstock News and Bloodstock Media clients.
  • Incorporate feedback from editors, managers, and clients to refine and develop social media and editorial skills.

Requirements

  • Strong grasp of social media operations and algorithms.
  • Knowledgeable about horse racing and breeding, with a willingness to learn more.
  • Experienced in journalism, with excellent grammar skills.
  • Confident and professional in client interactions, both virtually and in person.
  • Quick thinker, able to react to changing environments such as breaking news and sales events.
  • Creative, able to generate unique ideas for social media posts, campaigns, and editorial pieces.
  • Familiar with WordPress and Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Basic understanding of camera operation and filming techniques.
  • Organised, with strong time management skills to handle multiple social media accounts and editorial deadlines.
  • Collaborative, able to work closely with editors, writers, and the Business and Content Manager.
