About the Position

The Golden State Warriors are looking for a results oriented Director to join our Business & Legal Affairs team. The ideal candidate will have experience working on a broad range of legal matters (e.g., sports, entertainment, media, IT, etc.) with expertise in intellectual property, marketing and/or data privacy. This individual will safeguard GSW’s reputation by guaranteeing that the organization strictly follows applicable law and provide legal counsel to numerous business functions with a strong emphasis on the marketing department. This position reports into our Business & Legal Affairs department.

This is a full-time position based onsite in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review business contracts, including sponsorship agreements, arena event licenses and complex commercial contracts
• Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives on a variety of legal topics
• Provide drafting, negotiation and strategic support to sales, marketing, business development and digital content teams
• Review advertising materials and marketing plans to ensure compliance with NBA rules and applicable law
• Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations, and assure legal compliance
• Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems and develop strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk
• Drive continuous improvements in policies and processes, including standard practices and documentation templates
• Provide counsel and written reports to Chief Legal Officer and key partners
• Conduct a wide variety of legal research and interpretation

Required Experience & Skills

• Juris Doctorate degree
• 5-7 years of legal experience, within a law firm or in-house legal team
• Expertise in at least one of the following areas: corporate law, intellectual property, digital marketing, data privacy, sponsorship, entertainment, touring/events
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent analytical, research and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to explain legal issues to non-legal staff and collaborate with internal external legal staff
• Ability to build positive working relationships and trust with clients and peers at all levels within the organization
• Experience negotiating and drafting agreements with excellent attention to detail
• Desire to work on a broad range of legal matters
• The highest level of integrity and an unwavering sense of what is best for the business
• Ability to work independently and efficiently lead and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

• $192,000 - 203,000 + Bonus
