Overview /Objective:
The Director of Executive Security Service is responsible for managing physical security for League executives which include all activities related to identifying threats, mitigating vulnerabilities and creating secure environments where they work, reside and travel. Responsibilities include evaluating and assessing activities involving the executives, to determine security considerations and potential threats and/or vulnerabilities and identify the appropriate level of security necessary to include advancing locations to be visited by the executives to identify security concerns and potential vulnerabilities.
The Director manages and establishes security procedures and protocols relating to their personal residences to include mail screening, security systems evaluations and background screening of service/repair persons.
This position establishes and manages policies for threat assessments of information received pertaining to the safety and security of our executives, their families and other League and Club employees and their families.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Executive Security Service is responsible for the initiation and oversight of investigations conducted because of threats made against executives. This includes an assessment of the type of investigation required, notification of law enforcement, determination on whether to contact the person(s) making the threat and documentation thereof in the Security Department investigative database.
The Director manages the executive protection unit, and supervision of its members to include preparing assignments, directing activities, and managing performance goals. This includes the selection, training, and management of contract employees for additional security, transportation, and executive protection.
In addition to internal coordination, the Director must work effectively with international, federal, state, and local law enforcement entities such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Secret Service, Homeland Security and local law enforcement to ensure the safety of executives, NFL venues, fans, players, staff, and infrastructure. The position requires constant high-level coordination with NFL executive staff, club ownership, and stadium management.
Essential Functions:
- Identify, supervise, and manage detailed and complex investigations involving threats against League executives and/or the organization.
- Assign and manage investigative tasks performed by security representatives; review and approve detailed investigative reports.
- Conduct detailed due diligence background investigations as a part of the vendor selection process and on an ad hoc basis.
- Conduct detailed pre‐employment background investigations to include social media.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and managing complex security plans for large special events both domestically and internationally.
- Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in the areas of surveillance detection, risk vulnerability assessment, effective countermeasures and first aid.
- Advance locations to be visited by League executives for security considerations and potential vulnerabilities.
- Evaluate and assess activities undertaken by League executives for security considerations and potential vulnerabilities.
- Provide residential security management.
- Manage threat assessments of information received pertaining to the safety and security of the League executives and their families, and other League and Club employees and their families, as directed
- Developing and managing emergency and business continuity planning
- Assist with preparation and presentations at executive level briefings
- Coordinate the travel and activities of League executives with appropriate federal, state, and local Law enforcement, with League, Club, and private security entities, as appropriate.
- Possess strong writing skills particularly as it relates to the preparation of operational security plans, investigative reports, and summaries
- Other department administration, as assigned by Chief Security Officer
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- At least 10 years of experience in law enforcement or related field with at least 2 years of management experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Advanced Degree (Master's or JD)
- Prior work experience in security planning for large special events, dignitary protection, intelligence, or counterterrorism

- Demonstrates expertise in conducting complex and varied criminal investigations to include, but not limited to financial crimes, crimes of violence, gambling offenses, weapons offenses, and drug and alcohol‐related offenses
- Expertise in both civil and criminal judicial processes, to include rules of evidence, prosecutorial determinations, court proceedings and civil lawsuits
- Strong background in intelligence gathering, to include familiarity and use of online resources, subscription services and public record checks
- Proven record of accomplishment as a strong communicator -- written and oral presentations, capable of rapidly creating detailed, yet concise written reports.
- Extensive network of law enforcement contacts at the local, state, and federal level.
- Familiarity with current social media and its usage.
- Proficiency in the use of investigative databases.
- Expertise in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to deal effectively with different types of people, at all levels of internal and external organizations• Exceptional organizational skills.
- In-depth experience conducting interviews
- Proven record of accomplishment as a strong communicator -- written and oral presentations, capable of creating detailed written reports
- Experience with a range of research tools and software

Supervisory Responsibility:
- The Director has direct supervisory responsibilities for both contract and full-time employees
- Management of the executive protection unit includes the supervision of its members, preparing assignments, directing activities and managing performance goals.
- Selection, training, and management of contract employees for the purposes of providing additional security, transportation, and executive protection.”
Physical Demands:
- Role requires extended periods of standing, walking, and surveilling in connection with performing security functions for League executives, their families, and other League and Club employees and their families, as directed
- Role requires a level of physical fitness that provides to physical response to security threat as necessary.
Travel:
- Travel both domestically and internationally is required for this position. While frequency and duration of travel will vary throughout the year; applicants should anticipate approximately 40%- 60% travel.
Terms / Expected Hours of Work
- FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act).
- NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week.
