The Analytics/Data Enablement department is a key part of the League’s Data & Analytics organization.  Analytics Enablement is a group of expert professionals whose mission is to enable a data-driven culture at the NFL by having a consumption-based mindset. The Analytics Enablement team consists of Data Product Owners, Business Analysts, Analytic Engineers and BI Developers. By having a consolidated group with an outbound focus, we can ensure that all of the deliverables have a holistic and comprehensive view that enables data and analytics at scale.

Situated within the broader Data and Analytics organization, the Data and BI teams are undergoing a data modernization effort to create a modern enterprise data platform.

The Head of the Analytics Enablement department will lead the team in strategic planning and tactical execution of data solutions to enable analytics and fulfillment activities. This role is the primary liaison in creating an environment in which data can be easily accessed, analyzed and used to make informed decisions. The data and analytics enablement team are the stewards of the company’s single source of data truth and enable both data practitioners and consumers onto using the data.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the delivery of the various data roadmaps integrated into each business and corporate function strategy.
  • Partner with the Analytics teams to engage with customers to understand their needs and requirements, then communicate those needs and requirements across the data and analytics organization. With focus on which questions need answering to the make the most appropriate decisions.
  • Envision new data solutions and identification of where existing solutions can be expanded or scaled to meet the growing needs of customers and business partners.
  • Serve as “business to data” translator and orchestrator, ensuring the enterprise data roadmap is effectively implemented within each key line of business and corporate function to enable business outcomes.
  • Create and manage multi-year plan that corresponds to the execution of the various data roadmap. Portfolio and demand management responsibilities to ensure priorities are appropriately set and teams are engaged to deliver committed data and analytic capabilities.
  • Work directly with the Data and Analytic leaders to prioritize the backlog and ensure design and delivery of innovative D&A solutions.
  • Establish baselines and build key performance measures to track progress against the data roadmaps, course correcting as necessary to the achieve the outcomes desired.
  • Identify new and novel uses for data and analytics across supported lines of business to create/enable growth, process optimization and customer insight.
  • Manage Data Product Owners and Business Analysts to create processes to properly understand the business requirements and translate those into technical requirements on all data products.
  • Business Intelligence: supporting the adoption and business intelligence and descriptive & diagnostic tools.
  • Analytic Engineering: building an enterprise scalable semantic layer to feed business intelligence and analytic use cases.
  • Fulfillment and outbound delivery to League and Clubs to enable data-driven decision making.
  • Semantic layer architecture: creating a scalable, repeatable and governed semantic layer that feeds all metrics for reporting and analytic use cases.
  • Data supply chain: implementing a data supply chain that meets the organization’s data and analytic needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in analytics, data management and emerging technologies, with the ability to make informed decisions
  • 5+ years of experience leveraging project management skills and agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to align data initiatives with business impact and goals
  • Experience and knowledge in data and analytics tools and strategies including but not limited to ML, modeling, data management and quality, governance, BI and visualizations
  • Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholders across all levels of the organization and cultivate strong partnerships
  • Thoughtful leadership skills and experience in translating greenfield ideas into productionized solutions
  • Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
  • Proficiency in analytic data pipeline tools such as Python, Airflow, DBT, Talend, etc.
  • Understanding of BI and reporting tools such as Tableau, PowerBI
  • Proven track record in driving adoption of data products
  • Must be detail-oriented
    • You must be able to manage several moving parts
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Ability to operate independently and successfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and curious to learn new skills
  • Comfortable making decisions and leading
  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, data management and emerging technologies, with the ability to make informed decisions
  • 7+ years experience leveraging project management skills and agile methodologies

Terms /Expected Hours of Work:

  • 40 hours per week

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

$190,000$225,000 USD
