Director, Learning & Development (L&D)

The Director, Learning & Development (L&D) will be a pivotal leader of the Alma People & Culture (P&C) team, having the opportunity to scale up and lead the L&D agenda for the company and deploying L&D capabilities and initiatives that enable and support our team members to help achieve high-performing success. You’ll work closely with the P&C leadership team, executive leadership team, and other key leaders in the business to create meaningful programs and learning infrastructure in areas including leadership development, management and coaching fundamentals, change management, core skills training, and team member development. We’re looking for a strategic thought partner who envisions learning as a catalyst for continuous growth, development, and curiosity.

What you’ll do:

Manage the Learning & Development team:

  • Lead a team of three L&D professionals that actively develop, creatively design, implement, and measure successful learning programs.

Learning strategy and planning:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with organizational goals, informed by research and data benchmarking.
  • Partner with the Director of DEI to ensure strategies and trainings for both functions are inclusive, equitable, and serve the diverse needs of our team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify learning needs, design impactful programs, and ensure we are up to date on all needed compliance trainings. 

Leadership development:

  • Create and manage leadership and people manager development initiatives to foster the growth of internal talent.
  • Provide coaching and support to senior leaders in enhancing their leadership skills.

Training and content development:

  • Lead the design and delivery of scalable, engaging training programs, incorporating the latest learning methodologies.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop relevant and effective learning content.

Performance management:

  • Partner with the People Development team and other stakeholders to integrate L&D into the performance management process. 
  • Establish and analyze metrics to measure the success and impact of learning programs.

Systems and vendor management:

  • Leverage prior experience in evaluating, selecting, and managing relationships with external L&D partners and vendors (including relationship management with our current LMS vendor).
  • Leverage external resources to supplement internal learning initiatives.

Who You Are

  • You have 7-10 years of experience in L&D, with a focus on behavioral development.
  • You have 3-5 years of experience leading and managing a remote L&D team at a broad, diverse organization including managing managers. 
  • You have a track record of designing and implementing successful learning programs in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
  • You have a strong understanding with modern, adult learning principles and the ability to apply them effectively.
  • You have exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal skills and presence. 
  • You have experience with e-learning platforms, content creation tools, and learning technologies.
  • You have an advanced education, relevant certifications, or equivalent practical experience.

Salary: $165,000 - $200,000
