Job Description

Scopely is seeking a Director of Localization Services for the Central Operations Team, based in Barcelona, Spain (hybrid work model). The program's goal is to ensure all Scopely games deliver an outstanding, scalable, and natural localized player experience through strategy, operational support, and quality frameworks for Localization, voice-over (VO), and Localization QA (LQA).

This role serves as a key thought partner, responsible for shaping priorities and strengthening support across the portfolio. Your primary focus is on leveraging influence to build senior-level trust, align diverse stakeholders, and drive cross-functional alignment to improve localization quality, efficiency, and service maturity. You will also act as an ambassador for AI and emerging technology, guiding the pragmatic adoption and evolution of localization service lines.

What You Will Do

Drive the strategic evolution and scaling of Scopely’s central Localization, Voice Over (VO), and LQA service lines across the portfolio.

  • Act as a senior thought partner to the Sr. Director of Localization & Audio, translating functional vision into actionable priorities and operating models.
  • Influence without formal authority by building strong, trust-based relationships with game teams, senior leadership, and partners to advance the localization agenda.
  • Define and drive best practices, standards, and scalable frameworks across all localization services, balancing consistency with game and studio needs.
  • Provide senior oversight for external localization partners, refining engagement models and ensuring high quality and service accountability.
  • Drive portfolio-wide initiatives to improve the localized player experience and operational efficiency, using data (KPIs, quality indicators) to monitor service health and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Act as an ambassador for AI and emerging technology, identifying practical opportunities, guiding thoughtful adoption, and partnering with QAE (Quality Acceleration Engineering) to evolve tools and workflows.
  • Ensure internationalization and global-readiness are embedded early in development practices.

What you will need

  • 8+ years of experience leading or shaping Localization, LQA, and Voice Over strategy and operations in gaming or a similar globally distributed entertainment/digital content environment.
  • Proven track record as a strategic individual contributor, influencing direction, driving change, and delivering results across complex organizations without direct people management.
  • Deep understanding of localization operations and quality, including global launches, live service support, cross-functional execution, and effective vendor management.
  • Outstanding influencing, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively across diverse disciplines, cultures, and seniority levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to strengthen service models, improve operational frameworks, and drive scalable ways of working.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with excellent communication (verbal/written) to adapt messages for all audiences.
  • Experience with AI- and technology-enabled localization workflows, localization content management systems, and relevant operational tooling (e.g., bug tracking, QA workflows).
  • Experience in either AAA or mobile f2p gaming studio. If no gaming industry experience, must have worked in a fast paced high pressure environment.

Bonus Points

  • Experience defining or improving service lines, operating models, or governance structures within a central, shared-services, or portfolio-level function.
  • Experience working with Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools.
  • Strong familiarity with innovation in localization, including AI, Machine Translation (MT), and automation.
  • Proficiency in one or more additional languages.
