The Director of Player Care will assist all players and their families with the transition into the Los Angeles area and establishing their new lives within the community, help facilitate all day-to-day administration as it relates to player care, player onboarding, and family, and be the bridge between the players and the rest of the technical and administrative staff and operations of Angel City Football Club (ACFC).  

The  Director of Player Care will be a trusted confidant and the first point of contact for players’ personal questions and support. They will have great relationships with key stakeholders and play a critical role in maintaining club culture, communications, and overall high-level and professional experience for everyone.

The  Director of Player Care is also critical to the player transition as it provides them with full support to concentrate solely on their profession. This position will report to General Manager and will provide the best possible experience for ACFC players and their families.

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a resource for all players and their families.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Soccer Operations in all aspects of player experience and needs.
  • Have a good understanding of different cultures, backgrounds, and faiths to offer support to players from abroad or domestically.    
  • Work with the Operations department and Technical Staff for player onboarding and relocation.
  • Assist in player accommodations, housing set up, or viewings. 
  • Provide player support with deliveries, onboarding, and relocation. 
  • Ensure a smooth transition into LA life for players and their families.
  • Assist players with any needed paperwork for setting up in the Los Angeles area pertaining to travel, vehicles, licensing, and accommodations.
  • Handle ticket requests for both home and away matches, point of contact on match days for friends and family of players/staff.
  • Assist and work across ACFC Departments for player appearances, being the point of contact for players, ensuring management of player arrival, departure, and any information the player will need.
  • Coordinate player signing/autograph requests.
  • Look to develop a program to assist players looking for language learning and coordinate any needs for translators.
  • Build a network of contacts to aid in support of player and family lifestyle needs, schools/daycare for players’ children, visas, green cards, driver’s licenses, etc.
  • Provide a consistent range of support to players, players’ families, coaches, and coaches’ families during their tenure as part of the ACFC organization.
  • Collaborate with and exchange information between Soccer Operations and Technical Staff of ACFC.
  • Provide any needed support for ACFC leadership, First Team, Technical Staff and others in accordance with NWSL league guidelines.
  • Lead projects as assigned by GM or Sr. Director of Soccer Operations or other Management staff within the ACFC organization.
  • Work with the Operations & Technical Departments to assist in the transition of Academy players to the First Team environment. Additionally, help players and families when leaving the Los Angeles marketplace. 

Training / Equipment / Travel

  • Be present at training and home games for any support needed for the first-team players, coaching staff, or operations staff.
  • Work with the Sr Director of Soccer Operations & Equipment Manager as needed for any pre-training setup and post-training player support.
  • Assist with transportation and delivery of team equipment for away matches and preseason training camp.
  • Collaborate with Sr Director of Soccer Operations on player travel logistics, on-site for player pickups, meets, and airport facilitation.

Player Development

  • Work with the GM & Sr Director of Soccer Operations in establishing player development programming and resources.
  • Provide support for existing player development programming (i.e., Player 22 Program).
  • Aid in the development and logistical support of player programming, workshops, and panel discussions.
  • Support with establishing contacts within the player care and wellness industry. 
  • Establish and maintain best practices of Player Care within the sports industry and develop and implement Angel City FC Player-Care Team guidelines and codes of conduct.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in player support and/or sports teams.
  • You have a deep understanding of how to service athletes and technical staff members.
  • You work well within a collaborative, team-driven, and goal-based environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, facilitation, and team leadership. 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent multi-tasker and ability to maintain complete confidentiality.
  • You have a strong professional and positive presence/image to represent ACFC both internally and externally.
  • You lead with empathy and enthusiasm.
  • You have a strong background in sports and player experience. 
  • You have a high EQ and the ability to relate to all levels of staff, management, players, and ownership.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages (preferred but not required).

Compensation

In addition to the benefits above, this role has a pay range between $80k-$100k
