Job Title: Director of Programming & Business Development
Reports to: SVP, Experience Development
Team: Experience Development
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Director of Programming & Business Development to help lead the pursuit of new revenue-generating opportunities at Mission Rock. Equal parts dealmaker, programmer, and project manager; this role will serve as the connective tissue between vision and execution—overseeing complex initiatives from concept through completion.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on project leader who excels at managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholders while keeping creative momentum and business goals aligned. This role requires someone who can translate ideas into actionable plans, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure that every sponsorship, event, and activation is delivered on time, on brand, and on budget. From developing new partnerships to producing large-scale activations, this person will help bring Mission Rock’s community and commercial vision to life.
What Sets Us Apart
Destination-Led: From dynamic public spaces to world-class sporting and entertainment venues, the ballpark and Mission Rock to the south offer an unmatched canvas to connect, convene, and celebrate.
District-Defining: We are reimagining what a sports & entertainment district can bring together fans, locals, partners, and creatives in one stimulating ecosystem.
Built for Impact: We believe in meaningful connections, intentional experiences, and opportunities that drive culture, community, and commerce.
Why It Matters: This role is at the heart of shaping the future of Mission Rock—activating spaces, bringing people together, and building revenue-generating programs that enliven and energize the area.
You’re Excited About This Opportunity Because…
• Generate new revenue through the creation of new ventures and the sale of sponsorships, private events, brand activations, and strategic collaborations.
• Lead business development efforts to bring dynamic programming to Mission Rock, drawing foot traffic and attention to the neighborhood.
• Represent the Giants and our venues in industry associations and with key stakeholders such as ILEA, Bay Area Host Committee, and other regional forums.
• Collaborate with Giants Enterprises, Mission Rock and community stakeholders to identify opportunities that connect community, commerce, and fan experience.
• Work alongside curation, marketing, and operations to ideate, package, pitch, and activate a robust calendar of programs.
• Oversee project management across all initiatives, developing timelines, managing budgets, aligning internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring flawless execution from concept through delivery.
• Cultivate and close relationships with key brands, agencies, and partners—guiding them through the deal lifecycle from pitch to execution.
• Own the development of sales materials, pitch decks, and partnership collateral that showcases the opportunity of Mission Rock and its adjacent venues.
• Maintain a deep understanding of our venue assets and programming pipeline to ensure consistent, high-quality activation across all platforms.
• Support special projects that accelerate business growth, especially those that require creativity, speed, and start-up-level grit.
• Act as an advocate and connector for the organization within San Francisco’s event, hospitality, and entertainment ecosystems.
Qualifications
• 5 to 8 years of experience in business development, sponsorship sales, event closing deals and generating revenue tied to experiences or venues.
• Deep knowledge of how to position and activate physical space through partnerships, programming, or commercial use.
• Comfort operating in cross-functional environments without direct authority, strong influence and communication skills.
• High EQ and a relationship-first mindset that helps build long-term trust with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
• A strong pulse on the Bay Area market and enthusiasm for bringing the city to life through world-class experiences.
• Fluency in PowerPoint/Keynote, CRM tools, and business development workflows.
Bonus Points
• Prior experience representing a venue or public-facing destination in a commercial or programming capacity.
• Familiarity with Giants Enterprises platforms and the broader Giants brand ecosystem.
• Active membership in relevant industry associations.
• A successful track record in programming or activating new or developing districts.
