Position Summary:  MLB Network seeks a Director, On-Air Promotion with strong knowledge of television marketing and advertising, copywriting, production, and post production processes.  The Director, On-Air Promotion will help to develop breakthrough concepts and campaigns for MLB Network off-channel advertising, while managing and mentoring a staff of producers, editors, design, and support personnel.

 

Responsibilities:          

  • Develop strategically based ad campaigns and promotional concepts based on MLB Network marketing directives.
  • Oversee creative development and execution from staff and freelance writers, producers, and designers.
  • Manage daily department production workflow for maximum quality and efficiency.
  • Assure that all producers and outside vendors practice cost containment and deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Interface with Marketing, Programming, Ad Sales, and Production departments to forward MLB Network programming and sales initiatives.
  • Coordinate promo production and priorities of in-show and in-game promos with On-Air Promotion Scheduler.
  • Write and produce on/off-air promos and campaigns as necessary.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

                                          

It is expected that the Director, On-Air Promotion will maintain and increase knowledge in the marketing, advertising, and promotion disciplines as well as the business on an ongoing basis. 

Skills & Experience:    The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:

  • A minimum of 7 years national network, major-market TV station, ad agency, or related business experience is required.
  • Experience in the on-air promotion, advertising, or production industries are required with experience in sports broadcasting preferred.
  • Creative thinker with demonstrated success in driving successful marketing initiatives.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at remote locations including the MLB Office of the Commissioner and MLB Advanced Media.
  • Be extremely organized, demonstrate initiative and have an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
  • Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to effectively take on leadership roles in various functions is required. 
  • Utilize Experience with Microsoft Office is required.
  • Avid, Final Cut, and After Effects experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.

Education: Bachelors degree is required; communications or advertising major is highly preferred.

Work Classification: Standard Position. These employees are required in the office generally 80% of the time on assigned weekly work days and may work remotely on assigned day(s).
