Position Summary
Responsible for the educational instruction and counsel of Urban Youth Academy members
Essential Functions
- Assist students in varying educational subjects
- Teach study skills that prepare students for post-secondary education
- Provide an atmosphere conducive to learning and studying
- Assist youth in completing and retaining information of academic assignments
- Mentor students through interaction in educational activities
- Assist in monitoring number of participants in the educational program
- Administer Science of Baseball STEM summer and fall programs
- Administer ACT and SAT Prep
- Council youth on the importance of education and College prep
- Other duties as assigned
Required education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Teaching certification preferred
- Minimum of two years of teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- Professional demeanor, organized and detail oriented
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint programming
- Extensive multi-tasking skills and experience with time-sensitive deadlines
- Baseball and softball knowledge/acumen is preferred
- Experience with office administration preferred
Travel – 25% local overnight travel expected around All Star and Spring Break events.
Per pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is an hourly rate of $18-23/hr. The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
