About the role: 

Engineering Managers at AlayaCare lead a team of engineers dedicated to product development and in the development and maintenance of features in our flagship SaaS application.  

Engineering Managers cultivate a strong team identity with personalized coaching and mentoring. They use their understanding of the AlayaCare business to ensure that context and impact are clear and keep everyone accountable with aggressive but realistic delivery plans. 

About the Project: 

This specific position will be in the area of Care Planning and Delivery of the AlayaCare Cloud application. This area focuses on the advanced tools that enable agencies to enhance clinical care and streamline documentation for their clients. From creating comprehensive care plans and maintaining detailed medical histories to managing clinical notes, medications and tracking progress with complex forms, you will be at the heart of innovation. You will find a shifting mix of exciting challenges and your work will directly contribute to how our clients receive care at home.  

A day in the life:     

  • Collaborate with the product team to set and execute the day-to-day operations for engineering teams. 
  • Be accountable for monitoring, following-up and delivering on commitments and business results.  
  • Set direction and operational model for the team(s) by anticipating strategic challenges and business opportunities.   
  • Establish a high-performance culture by setting inspirational, measurable, and practical performance targets. Motivate and support team members to achieve them.   
  • Translate business objectives into software delivery activities.   
  • Continuously define, prioritize, and execute technical initiatives to improve the reliability of systems managed by the team.    
  • Hire, coach, and motivate a team of developers; meeting their aspirations of ownership, impact, and career growth.   
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams and disciplines to solve interconnected problems and to ensure customer satisfaction.   
  • Lead performance management and impact assessments for direct reports. Be accountable for the team(s)’s health and productivity.   
  • Stay current with industry trends. Establish, rollout, monitor, and continuously improve the technical and operational standards and best practices for the team.   
  • Maintain a professional network and leverage it to recruit the top talent. Promote AlayaCare and lead interviews. Establish and execute impactful onboarding process to improve the team members’ experience.   
  • Demonstrate and live our values in all you do and inspire others to do the same.    

What you bring to the team:  

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.  
  • 3+ years of people management experience in a technical industry, including strong cross-functional leadership and organizational skills.   
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile. 
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc., B.Comm, etc.) in Computer Science or Engineering or related field.  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to express technical and business concepts in approachable terms.   
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary software development practices, and opinions on how to best deploy them.   
  • Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset.   

Location and travel requirements:  

AlayaCare supports a flexible hybrid working model, expecting that our employees have a regular in-office presence at their closest office location while offering flexibility for some remote work. Our team encourages in-person collaboration and with this, the preferred candidate location for this position would be within the Greater Montreal Area.
