About the Role:  

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Manager of the SRE team is responsible for leading the roadmap, maintenance, continuous improvement of the infrastructure, and organizing our on-call incident response capability. 

The manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to support both pre- and post-deployment activities, ensuring smooth operations for our clients. Additionally, this role partners with the Support, Product, Data and Engineering teams to proactively address system challenges, optimize performance, and lead incident response efforts. 

A key aspect of this role is driving operational efficiency and creating financial accountability across teams owning services. 

Engineering Managers cultivate a strong team identitywithpersonalized coaching and mentoring. They use theirunderstandingof the AlayaCare business to ensure that contextand impact are clear andkeep everyone accountable with aggressive-but-realistic delivery plans.

A day in the life:

  • Lead the roadmap of SRE and provide input to cross functional efforts related to DevOps, Security, and automation. 
  • Foster an enablement-first mindset for product teams regarding DevOps practices and financial accountability 
  • Manage the on-call incident response rotation to ensure swift, effective resolution of incidents 
  • Initiatives. 
  • Monitor infrastructure health, performance and utilization to ensure that it meets the current and future company needs. 
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop top-tier SRE talent across the world. 
  • Lead performance management and impact assessments for direct reports. Be accountable for the team(s)’s health and productivity.  
  • Stay current with industry trends. Establish, rollout, monitor, and continuously improve the technical and operational standards and best practices for the team(s).   
  • Maintain a professional network and leverage it to recruit the top talent.
  • Promote AlayaCare and lead interviews.
  • Establish and execute impactful onboarding process to improve the team members’ experience.  
  • Demonstrate and live our values in all you do and inspire others to do the same. 

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's Degree ina computer-related field and/ordemonstratedlearningexperience.     
  • 2+ yearsof people management experience or in a technical leader role 
  • Hands-on SRE/DevOps technical experience 
  • Experience with Linux server environments, microservices architecture, and a major cloud infrastructure provider (AWS is an asset) 
  • Familiarity with system and network security, data backup and recovery, databases, continuous integration/deployment, infrastructure-as-code, service monitoring, and incident response tooling 
  • Experience participating in and/or managing an on-call rotation, including incident response methodologies 
  • Ability to work with global teams — understanding the challenges of working across time zones and cultures  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to express technical and business conceptsin approachable terms.     
  • Strong knowledgeof contemporary software development practices, and opinions onhow to best deploy them.  
  • Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset.  

Location, and in-office requirements:

AlayaCare supports a flexible hybrid working model, expecting that our employees have a regular in-office presence at their closest office location while offering flexibility for some remote work. Our team encourages in-person collaboration and with this, the preferred candidate location for this position would be within the Greater Montreal Area.
