Job Description

The Facilities Floor Care & Housekeeping Maintenance Specialist is a specialized housekeeping role responsible for advanced floor care, deep cleaning, and light, housekeeping-adjacent maintenance within guest rooms, restrooms, and common areas. The primary focus of this position is the appearance, cleanliness, and functional condition of finishes, surfaces, and fixtures typically maintained by a housekeeping department.

This role does not perform building, systems, or trade-level maintenance and does not replace the responsibilities of the JRTC Maintenance Department. Any repairs or issues beyond light, non-technical scope are identified and escalated to Maintenance.

During peak seasons and high-occupancy periods, this position will also support general housekeeping and service cleaning operations as needed.

Responsibilities

Floor Care & Specialized Cleaning

  • Operate and maintain commercial floor care equipment, including:
    • Floor polishing and burnishing machines
    • Waxing and stripping equipment
    • Carpet shampoo and extraction machines
    • Rotary and side-by-side floor machines
  • Perform full floor care services across housekeeping-managed areas, including:
    • Stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing hard floors
    • Deep cleaning carpets and specialty flooring using steamers and commercial equipment

Light Housekeeping-Adjacent Upkeep

  • Perform light, non-technical upkeep appropriate to a housekeeping role, including:
    • Touch-up painting of walls, ceilings, baseboards, and trim in guest rooms, restrooms, and common areas
    • Minor cosmetic repairs and refresh work within guest-facing spaces
    • Replacement or adjustment of basic, non-powered fixtures such as shelving, towel bars, faucets, sinks, and lavatories
  • Identify and promptly report any issues beyond this scope to the Maintenance Department

Exterior & Detail Cleaning

  • Perform pressure washing of housekeeping-managed exterior areas such as walkways, entrances, patios, and guest-facing surfaces
  • Clean interior and exterior windows, including high or hard-to-reach windows, using appropriate tools and safety equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper care of all cleaning tools and equipment

General Cleaning & Housekeeping Support

  • Assist with general service cleaning and housekeeping duties during peak seasons, tournaments, special events, and high-occupancy periods
  • Support room turns, restroom cleaning, common area servicing, and special deep-clean projects as assigned
  • Remain flexible to adjust work assignments based on daily operational needs

Safety & Operational Standards

  • Follow all safety procedures related to chemicals, equipment, ladders, lifts, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Use cleaning products and machinery in accordance with manufacturer and organizational guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Housekeeping leadership

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in commercial floor care, housekeeping, janitorial services, or similar roles
  • Strong working knowledge of floor care processes, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing
  • Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment
  • Experience performing light, non-technical upkeep in hospitality or lodging environments preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and guest presentation standards
  • Physically able to lift equipment, stand for extended periods, and perform manual labor
  • Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30 lbs.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and managers
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules
  • Valid driver’s license preferred

The Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) located in Vero Beach, Florida, serves as a year-round hub for amateur development initiatives and events designed to diversify and strengthen the talent pipelines of baseball and softball. We are the permanent home to several signature youth-focused events and programs, such as the Nike RBI World Series and the Hank Aaron Invitational, which teach players how to succeed on and off the field. The historic facility, formerly known as Dodgertown, was renamed Jackie Robinson Training Complex in honor of its trailblazing namesake.
