The Role

You will be responsible for forecasting and capacity planning in the operations area, including resources and events. You will provide a single view of operations resource demands for both the short and long term. You’ll be searching and identifying opportunities for optimising concurrencies and resources used. You are able to create a model that includes the entire operations function and can be easily connected with business cases and rights deal evaluations. Does this sound like you?

Main Responsibilities

  • Single view across ALL Operations - Forecasting & Capacity planning function
  • Act as the single point of contact for Operations to engage with if there is an activity which will require a change to Operational resources
  • Provide the Operations Director and Senior Leadership team with accurate, cross Operations forecasts for all resources (Human and other) on which to base business decisions
  • Work with the Functional Leaders in Operations to collate their forecast resources, variables and plans to match demand
  • Set up a standardized resource planning process to gather resource requirements for short-, medium- & long-term  planning in Operations
  • Set up review process to gather capability requirements short-, medium- & long-term planning in Operations
  • Work with all inputs into resource demand for Operations (Commercial, M&A, Product etc) to get forecast requirements
  • Set up and own governance process to manage demand & supply requirements into Operations
  • Providing statistical analysis and insight to support the impact assessment of change of requirements into Operations
  • Provide finance with resource model for Operations to enable budget, forecast & LTP – including assumptions
  • Track actual against forecast and variance – including events, inputs etc
  • Identify opportunities across all operations where resources can be used in a more optimal way. Look at all capacity options across Operations including Outsource or other solutions.
  • Provide input into any system requirements to enable better forecasting & planning. If required Identification and implementation of new technology for planning, including the use, development or procurement of effective workforce planning software (WFM)
  • To be aware of and record business, resource and seasonal changes, making appropriate resource plans for expected changes in profile and workloads, reporting on expected and experienced results
  • Develop and track Operational KPI’s driving resourcing for Utilization & Efficiency

Required Skills

  • Previous experience with demand forecasting & capacity planning in operational environments
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills, working cross functionally to gather demand and supply forecast data
  • Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using data and metrics to build resource models, test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success
  • Develop processes to standardise forecasting & capacity planning
  • Ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to learn and ability to work proactively
  • Flexible in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
