Position Reports To: Sr. Manager, Promotional Traffic
Position Summary: The Freelance Promo Coordinator will assist with the planning, scheduling, quality control, and delivery of media produced by the MLB Network and NHL Network On-Air Promotion Department.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate deliverables with NHL Network On-Air Promo Production Team and maintain the promo deliverables list Google sheet. Assist with MLB Network Deliverables list management when necessary.
- Schedule NHL Network Promo Elements into daily broadcast logs for NHL Network’s primary and alternative feeds, providing weekly contingency logs as well. Assist with MLB Network upon request.
- Coordinate with internal parties to assign ISCI codes/house numbers.
- Enter NHL Network and MLB Network promo inventory into Broadway Traffic System and Grip It Promo Scheduling System, setting up rules for media campaign flights.
- Screen all NHL Network and MLB Network promo content, flagging any potential quality control issues prior to media delivery.
- Create daily standby promo lists for both MLB Network and NHL Network Master Control and Traffic.
- Work with On-Air Promotion, Sales, Graphics, and MLB Media Marketing to create daily MLB Network snipe schedules, sending revisions as needed.
- Assist with snipe inventory management.
- Meet daily with management to discuss NHL Network and MLB Network schedules and production plans for that day and for the next day.
- Follow breaking news to track player injuries, and follow up with management regarding swapping out creative, when necessary.
- Create and send purge lists to NHL Network Master Control (CMC) to clear old inventory from the systems. Assist with MLB Network inventory management on an ad hoc basis.
- Obtain As-run reports from NHL Network Traffic Department and import into Grip it Promo Scheduling System.
- Assist with occasional late night/weekend changes to swap out spots in an emergency situation.
Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:
- Must have at least 1-5 years of experience in related position such as On-Air Promotion Scheduling, Traffic, Marketing, Branding, or Broadcast Operations.
- Strong computer skills: proficient in Google Sheets, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, project coordination skills, and extreme attention to detail.
- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and respond to strict deadlines.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights on a regular basis, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Possess the manual dexterity to effectively operate keyboard/mouse on computers and other such equipment.
- Possess the visual acuity to work in darkened control rooms for extended periods of time to create required content.
- Possess auditory acuity to effectively perform required duties.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to navigate distances of various lengths within the work environment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.
Work Classification: Flextime.
