We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Global Indirect Tax Manager to lead and manage our global indirect tax compliance, reporting, and strategy. This role will play a key part in ensuring indirect tax compliance across ŌURA’s international operations, optimizing tax processes, and supporting business expansion. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in VAT, GST, sales tax, and other indirect tax matters, particularly in e-commerce and digital product environments.

What you will do:

Indirect Tax Compliance and Reporting:

  • Manage indirect tax filings, registrations, and audits in collaboration with external advisors and internal teams.
  • Monitor tax law changes and ensure timely implementation of necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure all tax reports are accurate and complete for timely submission.

Tax Strategy and Optimization

  • Develop and implement global indirect tax strategies to minimize risks and maximize efficiency.
  • Support business expansion by assessing indirect tax implications of entering new markets, launching new products, and facilitating global expansion taxation implementation.
  • Provide strategic advice on pricing, supply chain, and invoicing structures to ensure tax efficiency.
  • Lead efforts to limit indirect tax exposure across different jurisdictions.

Process & System Improvements

  • Partner with finance, accounting, and IT teams to enhance tax reporting processes and systems, ensuring automation where possible.
  • Work closely with the ERP and e-commerce platforms to ensure proper tax determination and compliance.
  • Drive improvements in indirect tax controls, data accuracy, and reconciliation processes.
  • Lead the implementation of a new indirect tax system to support global operations and ensure scalability.

Cross Functional Collaboration & Advisory

  • Act as the key indirect tax advisor to various business units, including finance, operations, legal, and product teams.
  • Work with external tax advisors and government authorities to resolve tax issues and implement best practices.
  • Provide indirect tax training and guidance to internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Support the launch of new B2B systems, ensuring all tax compliance aspects are met from a global perspective.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage tax exemption processes for customers, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional rules and regulations.
  • Oversee tax notice management, addressing any indirect tax inquiries and working closely with tax authorities to resolve outstanding matters.

Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  •  CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of indirect tax experience, preferably in a multinational company, Big 4 firm, or e-commerce environment.
  • Expertise in global VAT, GST, and sales tax compliance and strategy.
  • Strong understanding of indirect tax technology, ERP systems, and e-commerce tax engines (e.g., Avalara, NetSuite, Zuora).
  • Experience working with cross-border transactions, digital goods, and direct-to-consumer and B2B business models.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple international jurisdictions and stay ahead of evolving tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
