CLIENT SERVICES / Responsible for leading Octagon’s client business and day-to-day management for global client partnerships & programs.

***Our headquarters is in Stamford, CT, but the location of this position can be flexible with a priority given to candidates open to hybrid work (3 days a week in the office) in one of our office locations - - Stamford, CT, New York, NY, Chicago, IL or Atlanta, GA. 

Octagon is searching for a Group Account Director to join our team as a leader and playmaker at the intersection of sports/entertainment and experiential marketing. In this role, you will work closely with the Vice President of Client Services to help oversee a team responsible for strategic program development, project management, and execution of our client’s global partnerships.  A strong focus will be on team leadership/management, client management, integrated planning across internal/external channels, concept development, and advance facilitation working with clients, properties, internal teammates, and agency partners throughout the process. The position is best suited for a candidate passionate about working in a team environment with diverse people from different cultural backgrounds and interested in managing multiple workstreams. To be successful you’ll need to be an excellent communicator and understand global partnerships and activations.

THE WORK YOU’LL DO

  • Manage day-to-day planning, program development, and execution of client's global partnerships across major rights holders, leagues, and entertainment properties
  • Oversee the development of program plans, partnership recommendations, finance trackers, and competitive documents and support the development of client's scopes of work
  • Lead an integrated team including the implementation of project management routines, toolkits, internal timelines, and cross-agency partner timelines
  • Oversee the management and development of the team
  • Represent Octagon on cross-agency forums, presenting strategic recommendations and facilitating the engagement of internal specialists
  • Oversight and management of direct reports, while also supporting career development
  • Other related duties/projects as reasonably assigned
  • Domestic & international travel to support client’s programming; includes non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 8-10 years of work with an agency, brand, or property on the development of integrated brand campaigns, specifically within global sports and/or entertainment
  • Superior verbal and written communicator able to scale and adapt communications for a variety of audiences to optimally and succinctly articulate agency positioning and expertise
  • A strategic, collaborative approach to solving problems with ideas – build relationships and influence a range of teams.
  • Track record of success at cultivating positive agency, client, vendor, and property relationships
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Strategic problem solver - can see the possible impacts of a decision on many projects
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work weekends or holidays as needed. Anticipated travel amount: (20-45%). As such, a valid US passport will be required
  • A highly driven and motivated individual
  • Exceptional communicator and strong PowerPoint skills to deliver creative, clear documents to senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading teams to exceed client expectations
  • A commitment to developing talent underneath and around you
  • Excellent Project Management skills with a high degree of numeracy and literacy
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally is a must; A valid passport or the ability to obtain a passport at a later date is required
  • Anticipated travel: Moderate (25-45%)

The base range for this position is $90,000 - 115,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure, and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
