We are seeking an experienced Head Groundskeeper to run the day-to-day field operations at the Angel City Football Club Performance Center in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Head Groundskeeper manages and executes all pitch and landscaping operations related to our training ground.

This full-time role is pivotal in ensuring our grounds are in optimal condition for play. The work schedule will reflect the team practices and events hosted at the facility and grounds. This position requires an irregular schedule and non-traditional hours. 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and preparation of all playing surfaces
• Develop and implement an IPM program
• Calibrate and perform all applications of pesticides and fertilizers safely
• Safely operate all types of machines in turf maintenance, including but not limited to mowers, tractors, aerifiers, and sprayers
• Perform regular maintenance on equipment
• Layout and paint soccer field lines utilizing Turf Tank program and equipment
• Monitor irrigation and soil moisture levels and adjust accordingly
• Maintain the irrigation system and complete minor repairs
• Perform field testing weekly and supply reports to the coaching staff
• Schedule the turf maintenance program to work around the schedule of the team
• Communicate with coaching staff weekly on the condition of the fields as well as any maintenance work that is scheduled
• Ensures all fields meet the highest standards for professional soccer, comply with NWSL   regulations, prioritize player safety, and support optimal performance for players
• Develop and implement seasonal field management plans tailored to weather, usage, and field type

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a Groundskeeping role with sports turf-related experience at a professional level
• Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes
• Working knowledge of the cultural practices required for Bermuda grass at a professional soccer level
• Ability to operate power and hand tool equipment including but not limited to lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment
• Must have a current California pesticide license or obtain one in six months
• Self-motivated and works independently with minimal supervision
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Ability to communicate clearly in both writing and verbally
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to layout and paint soccer field lines
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays
• Ability to work with prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling
• The ability to lift 25 lbs. to 80 lbs. Regularly
• The preferred candidate will have a two or four-year degree in turf management

Compensation

In addition to the benefits above, this role has a pay range between $90k to $95k.
