Head of Financial, Planning & Analysis and International Finance

Support the SVP of Finance in leading the global financial strategy, planning and analysis function of the League Office, establishing a center of excellence. Work closely with the NFL’s operational finance personnel, office of the controller, and business unit strategy resources, to deliver impactful business analysis and play a key part in driving insightful business decisions and strategy.  Also work closely with International Leadership to grow the business on a global scale.  Regularly, summarize and present business performance updates, key findings/analyses, and strategic decisioning matters to the League’s C-Level Operating Committee (CFO, CBO, CRO, CAO).  Key responsibilities include:

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Oversee FP&A team to consolidate, report and analyze financial performance of all NFL businesses
  • Manage development of budgets and re-forecasts, variance analyses, risk/opportunity assessments, financial models / KPIs, and various periodic and ad hoc reporting
  • Track cash flow statements, income statements & balance sheets as well as all forecasting, reporting, financial analysis, and accounting
  • Ensure systems, metrics and controls are in place and effective processes are maintained throughout the organization, serving as a thought leader in pursuit of continuous process improvement

Business Planning

  • Lead and manage the organization’s annual budgeting and long-term strategic planning activities in collaboration with the SVP of Finance and the Strategy department
  • Develop internal business planning process, including timeline, templates, and deliverables
  • Work with Strategy team and department strategy resources to recognize and solve business problems and inefficiencies to drive business results, improve efficiency and maximize ROI
  • Identify and coordinate business performance review meetings with Commissioner as needed

International Finance

  • Provide business and fiscal leadership for NFL International, function as key financial advisor to EVP and SVP of International
  • Partner with finance & operational staff to (1) identify and solve business problems and process  inefficiencies, (2) support and help lead strategic growth initiatives, and (3) improve operating results
  • Oversee International finance team to consolidate, report and analyze financial performance
  • Consolidated Reporting (international business):
  • Manage financial information & systems across business
  • Manage quarterly close & year-end reporting
  • Ensure integrity of financial communication to NFL Finance & other central functions
  • Game reporting (in USD on NY reporting systems):
  • Oversee UK & Mexico game reporting and controls
  • Manage quarterly close & year-end reporting and variance analysis provided by team
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations & analysis through Blackline
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP
  • Work closely with operations & events staff to track & control budgets
  • Territory accounting (in local currency on local reporting systems):
  • Review monthly reporting submissions from territories
  • Review controls & systems in place with regards to accounting & reporting functions (AP, AR, Cash, Payroll, Taxation etc.)
  • Support territory finance managers with regards to local office functions – consumer products, events, marketing, media, & sponsorship
  • Work closely with different functions to control & communicate budgets and provide financial support on contract negotiations

Business Unit Support

  • Drive teamwork and collaboration across the organization on key League strategic initiatives
  • Work with operating teams to provide fact-based recommendations that support revenue growth and improve profitability, operating efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support key special or cross-functional projects/transactions at the direction of the CFO and SVP of Finance

Required Qualifications

  • 15 years of related experience in finance or accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proven leader in achieving objectives and setting direction for a team
  • Experienced in managing teams across multiple locations
  • Ability to successfully manage a large team
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • Experience with sports media & entertainment industry
  • Know how to present financial results and projections in a way that helps senior management

maximize opportunities and minimize costs

  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task meeting all deadlines and grasping new concepts quickly
