OVERVIEW:
As the first Human Resources employee in South Korea, this individual must be a strong self-starter with a growth mindset. This individual will be responsible for establishing all Human Resource practices in the Korea market. This role will partner directly with cross-functional teams to support the stores across South Korea. This role will involve building out the People processes, policies, and compliance across the Korea market, as well as supporting the long term strategic growth of the business in Korea.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Create key Human Resources practices to support the employee lifecycle in Korea, inclusive of Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding, Employee Development, Employee Relations, Employee Experience, Health & Safety, and Compliance
- Conduct Compensation and Benefits Analyses and establish Programs to ensure organizational and cultural alignment in practices
- Conduct investigations into complex employee relations issues and partner with business leaders on resolutions
- Provide support, thought partnership and coaching to management and employees on human resources related matters, policies & procedures, and employment law
- Develop strong cross-functional partnerships with leaders to become the trusted business partner across the retail space
- Support Payroll function, inclusive of running Payroll, establishing key processes, supporting employee inquiries, and other Financial practices
- Partner with Legal counsel to roll out Retail Handbooks, policies and procedure to ensure compliance with employment laws
- Launch North American HR initiatives and programs across Korean stores to ensure consistency across the organization
- Support local recruitment efforts for all levels and build tools for future effectiveness
- Proactively address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive work culture through effective communication and engagement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to local labor laws, maintain accurate records, and generate reports as required.
- Host DEI events and activities, and support and implement global HR programs and projects
- Works with field leadership to ensure that career development, talent assessment, and engagement programs are developed and implemented for our employees
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bi-Lingual in English and Korean
- Advanced knowledge of local labor law and ability to advise on practical application at both the organizational and individual levels
- Previous work experience in Retail and with a Global company is a plus
- 5 – 7 years HR Manager and/or Business Partner experience
- Well-rounded capability across the Human Resources functions
- Self-starter and entrepreneurial mindset
- A people person – leads with kindness and integrity
- Ability to support both HQ and Retail environments and navigate rapid and continuous growth + seasonal increases during the holiday season
- Comfortability with a high volume and evolving workload
- Ability to identify problems and come forward with solutions

- Customer service – quick and accurate responses to employee inquiries and needs
