About the Role:

Apply your engineering expertise to the world of Intellectual Property (IP) at Rapsodo. As an IP Intern, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the cutting-edge technologies that drive our success in sports analytics. Collaborating closely with our in-house IP team, you will assist with patent and trademark matters, transforming innovative ideas into valuable IP assets.

This hands-on role provides experience in the field of IP law, where you will assist in various tasks related to patent and trademark matters. This position offers the chance to gain practical knowledge in IP law while contributing to real IP projects. You will engage in meaningful tasks, from patent search to streamlining processes, and leverage your technical background in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

What You Will Do:

• Collaborate with the IP team to develop engaging, creative educational materials for internal IP training sessions, empowering our engineers and innovators to understand and contribute to the patenting process.
• Conduct patent and prior art searches, as well as trademark clearance searches, to ensure our innovations remain protected and competitive.
• Review and analyze invention disclosures from our engineering teams, translating complex technical ideas into patentable solutions.
• Assist in refining and optimizing Rapsodo's internal patent processes, leveraging your engineering background to identify opportunities for streamlining and improving efficiency.
• Participate in preparing and filing patent applications, gaining first-hand exposure to the intricacies of patent law.
• Draft responses to Office Actions from patent and trademark offices, working closely with our IP team to address challenges, secure patents, and communicate technical details from the engineering team, effectively bridging the gap between engineering and IP team.
• Maintain and update our IP portfolio databases and files.
• Prepare IP presentations and reports as needed.

What We Are Looking For:

• Currently pursuing a Master’s in IP Law (with a technical focus) or holding a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a strong interest in IP.
• A solid understanding of engineering principles and technologies, with the ability to grasp complex inventions and communicate them effectively in IP filings.
• Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to cnduct in-depth patent and prior art searches.
• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex legal and technical information to different teams.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a fast-paced and dynamic team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to prepare professional IP documentation.
