We are looking for an IT Manager who will lead daily Infrastructure and Cloud activities to ensure that the business is provided with timely, high-quality, reliable, and accurate systems and functions critical to supporting Garmin’s business. This role is accountable for operational excellence and project delivery across on-premises infrastructure, Garmin Private Cloud (GPC), and Azure Cloud environments.
We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require 5 days in the office each week.
Essential job functions:
- Provide operational leadership for day-to-day activities and provide strategic direction across infrastructure, cloud, and security services.
- Build and maintain high performing team(s) by recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent.
- Promote team member engagement and effectiveness by providing constructive feedback and promoting personal development, including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals.
- Develop and manage team and individual performance and capacity metrics to identify successful operations or areas where improvement is needed, while also working to ensure that all organizational objectives are met.

- Engage in active collaboration with other Global IT & Security leaders to ensure alignment of associates and initiatives to Garmin’s strategic initiatives as prioritized through defined governance processes and roadmaps.
- Engage in active collaboration with other Global IT & Security leaders to ensure delivery of critical IT & Security applications and technologies across on-prem, Azure Cloud, and GPC platforms.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively to stakeholders across departments, ensuring business, departmental and associate requirements are met.
- Communicate priorities to the Infrastructure & Cloud team, including key business deliverables and expected results.
- Research and recommend new technologies, processes, and solutions to meet business needs and continually improve the productivity and effectiveness of the team.
- Plan and schedule work, including the allocation of resources across operations and project portfolios.
- Lead tactical and strategic planning to best leverage the use of IT & Security Business Analytics, Asset Management, and the IT & Security Application Portfolio for day-to-day business and decision support functions.
- Coordinate and syndicate appropriate processes, priorities, and projects across the Global IT & Security organization.
- Participate as needed or required in regular or special meetings of the IT & Security team to address strategies, integration, progress and/or issues needing escalation or problem-solving.
- Exhibit a customer/supplier philosophy that emphasizes both internal and external relationships.
- Leverage sound project management methodologies to enable infrastructure and cloud project delivery, including migrations, modernization, and platform enhancements.
- Ensure security best practices are incorporated into deployed applications and systems across on-premises, Azure Cloud, and GPC environments.
- Lead cloud operations governance including availability, performance, resilience, backup/recovery, and cost optimization for Infrastructure, Azure Cloud and GPC services.
- Manage the acquisition, deployment and tracking of purchased computer software assets per Garmin’s policies and procedures.
- Support team members, peers, and other Garmin associates by actively seeking feedback, building networks, sharing successes, tools and knowledge.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant IT Technology experience AND 3 years previous IT management experience.
- Proven experience in IT/infrastructure/cloud strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- Exposure to systems design and development, beginning from business requirements analysis through day-to-day management.
- Demonstrated proficient knowledge of the following:
- Network, operating systems, and IT architecture, including cloud and virtual environments
- Azure Cloud services and governance, including cloud operations, security controls, and service reliability
- Garmin Private Cloud (GPC) operational models, platform services, and lifecycle management
- IT Security principles
- IT business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
- Applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT and cloud services
- Methods and practices for the implementation, maintenance, and support of information systems
- Demonstrated ability to perform analysis, design configuration, and support of complex IT and cloud systems.
- Proven track record of IT & Security Incident Management including the coordination and management of production impacting incidents, problem management and design/deployment of irreversible corrective action.
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to proactively meet required timelines.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and changing environment.
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead others through complex problem solving AND to personally engage in and drive solution design.
- Familiarity with current technology platforms such as Windows, Linux and cloud services.
- Understanding of ITIL, Quality Standards, and best practices.
- Management experience in Supply Chain industry, Cloud and/or web application development environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise business applications including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Warehouse Management, Manufacturing Execution systems.
- Experience with Agile Scrum Methodology.
- Experience delivering infrastructure and cloud transformation projects in Azure Cloud and hybrid private cloud environments.
- Experience with cloud financial management, capacity planning, and operational automation in enterprise environment.
