Role Overview: We are looking for a passionate and ambitious Junior Staff Writer to join our dynamic Digital Content team at Formula 1. Reporting into our Senior Editor, Written, you will play a key role in supporting F1’s editorial output across a wide range of written formats - from up‑to‑the‑minute news stories and in‑depth features to creative blogs and artworking tasks. This is an exciting opportunity for a developing writer with a sharp eye for storytelling, a love for motorsport, and a desire to grow within one of the world’s most iconic sporting organisations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities News writing – delivering timely, accurate and engaging updates on the latest developments across the F1 world.

• Feature writing – producing thoughtful, well‑researched long‑form content that brings F1’s people, moments and stories to life.
• Story building – identifying strong narratives, structuring articles effectively and ensuring quality, consistency and editorial voice.
• Support of live blog – assisting with real‑time coverage during race weekends and other major events.
• Content ideation – contributing creative ideas for editorial pieces, campaigns and new content formats.
• Basic artworking – supporting visual production through simple graphics and social assets.
• Race weekends at Biggin Hill – contributing to on‑site editorial coverage, including writing, research and live content support.
• Producing PowerPoint presentations and decks – creating clear and visually engaging materials for senior editorial staff.
• What Are We Looking For? Qualifications Not essential to be successful in the role but you may also have the following qualifications: A degree in journalism/sports journalism It would be advantageous to have a UK driving license.

Experience Prior to the role it would be essential that you: Have some level of editorial or journalistic experience.

Have had your writing published in at least one reputable publication, whether in print or online. Knowledge & Skills Prior to the role it is essential that you demonstrate: Knowledge of Content Management Systems A strong working knowledge of Formula 1 and it's history Some experience with PowerPoint and Photoshop/Canva would be advantageous Personal Qualities In this role it is essential that you are: A strong team player who collaborates well with others.

A self‑starter who manages their time effectively and works proactively. Deadline‑driven, able to prioritise tasks and work efficiently under pressure. Creative, with an enthusiasm for generating ideas and crafting compelling stories. Career Progression - Where Can You Go Next? You’ll be exposed to a wide variety of editorial tasks, formats and workflows, gaining hands‑on experience across the full breadth of our written output.
