Base Salary Range: $28.50 Hourly

SUMMARY:

The Senior Security Supervisor oversees event and shift-level security operations to ensure a safe and secure environment for clients, employees, contractors, vendors, and guests at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC).

This position leads event security operations including ingress, egress, crowd management, life-safety response, emergency incidents, and contractor oversight while partnering with event security providers, EMS personnel, and public safety agencies including LAPD and LAFD.

The Senior Security Supervisor provides operational support to the Assistant Security Manager, Security Manager, Senior Security Manager, and Vice President of Security by overseeing major events, supervising personnel, ensuring compliance with California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) requirements, and enforcing Legends Global and LACC policies and procedures.

This position serves as a mentor and trainer for newly hired and promoted supervisors, reviews incident reports for accuracy and completeness, and may represent security leadership during meetings or operational briefings when management is unavailable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and direct security operations for events, conventions, meetings, and special activities.
  • Develop and implement event security plans in coordination with clients, Event Management, contractors, and public safety partners.
  • Oversee crowd management, ingress/egress operations, emergency response activities, and contract security performance.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence during events and provide guidance to supervisors, officers, and contract personnel.
  • Create, maintain, and adjust staffing schedules and deployments to meet operational needs.
  • Serve as Security Manager On Duty (MOD) when required.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate supervisors and security personnel, including oversight of the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program.
  • Ensure compliance with Guard Card, CPR/AED, and other required certifications and training programs.
  • Complete employee evaluations and assist with performance management, coaching, and corrective action processes.
  • Review incident reports, logs, and operational documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Draft and distribute directives, BOLOs, operational communications, and training materials.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of equipment, radios, keys, AEDs, call boxes, CCTV systems, inventories, and departmental records.
  • Maintain employee files, training records, certification logs, inventory records, contractor logs, theft logs, and other departmental tracking systems.
  • Conduct special investigations, CCTV reviews, incident follow-ups, and evidence collection as assigned.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, campus partners, contractors, and government agencies to support safe and successful operations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, emergency plans, and operational improvements.
  • Prepare event recaps, after-action reports, and other operational summaries as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid CA/BSIS Guard Card.
  • Must be able to oversee workflow and take proactive action to ensure the Security Department’s performance goals.
  • Must be able to represent Legends Global and LACC in an exemplary manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to exhibit leadership qualities, motivate/engage team members & lead by example.
  • Effectively collaborate and resolve conflicts with others.
  • Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate sound judgement in stressful, highly active situations.
  • A good understanding of the security & guest services roles in a facility environment.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes quickly and effectively.
  • Must be able to create, implement, and present training materials and programs for all LACC team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Required variable work schedules such as late hours, early mornings, extended hours, holidays, and weekends.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum education of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, military, emergency management, hospitality, or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing security operations for large-scale events, conventions, concerts, sporting events, or public assemblies.
  • Experience supervising personnel, conducting investigations, preparing reports, and coordinating with law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies.
  • Knowledge of BSIS regulations, crowd management, emergency response procedures, and incident command principles.
  • Experience training, mentoring, and evaluating security personnel
  • Proficiency with CCTV, access control systems, incident reporting software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to large public/private gatherings indoors/outdoors. Team members will be exposed to outside weather conditions. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required in certain situations. Team members must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate in office setting and moderate to high during events.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

This is an onsite position that requires in-person collaboration with multiple departments and coverage of events from start to finish. Position will perform other duties required to assist other departments, as necessary. The Security Department is staffed and on-site 24/7; as such personnel may be required to work early mornings, evenings or night shifts as well as weekends, and holidays to meet business and event needs.
