WHAT MAKES US EPIC?

At the core of Epic’s success are talented, passionate people. Epic prides itself on creating a collaborative, welcoming, and creative environment. Whether it’s building award-winning games or crafting engine technology that enables others to make visually stunning interactive experiences, we’re always innovating.

Being Epic means being a part of a team that continually strives to do right by our community and users. We’re constantly innovating to raise the bar of engine and game development.

PROGRAMMING - UNREAL ENGINE

What We Do

Unreal-powered projects have been on the bleeding edge of real-time entertainment for over 20 years. Our team of programming experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

We're a core group of talented programmers who specialize in creating developer and QA productivity solutions that drive Epic-wide impact. Our tools and technologies have significantly improved the speed and efficiency of launching, operating, and scaling high-quality AAA games. You will lead a team of programmers focusing on the development of content pipeline tools and automated test solutions for Unreal Engine, with an emphasis on Software Development Programmer in Test (SDET) principles. If you are passionate about utilizing automation to improve quality, performance, test coverage, and developer efficiency then we’d love to talk with you!

In this role, you will

  • Lead a team of tools & automation programmers focusing on automated test solutions and Unreal Engine workflow optimization
  • Provide coaching/mentorship as needed to other programmers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Leverage your strong C#/C++ programming skills and deep understanding of game engines (preferably Unreal Engine) to build robust and scalable automation solutions with impact across Epic; troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to tools and automation
  • Build partnerships with internal customers and stakeholders across Epic to identify pain points and develop innovative, effective automation solutions that yield tangible business results
  • Own efforts to optimize existing automated test suites, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and efficient test execution; optimize Developer and QA workflows, reducing manual effort and increasing productivity
  • Design, develop, and maintain test tools and automation frameworks for our internal suite of developer tools. Develop, assess, and improve performance tests for various workflows, including editor and runtime performance
  • Enable developers, testers, and analysts to author automation test scripts, implement automation best practices, and help lay the foundation of scalable automated test solutions

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring a programming team in the games or content creation industry
  • Proven experience architecting novel solutions for development and QA when solutions do not exist within the space
  • Proven experience owning design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of automated tests and frameworks. Experience with performance testing frameworks is a plus
  • Good knowledge of how game engines work; experience with either Unreal Engine/Unity or a custom internal game engine
  • Experience with polyglot development, working between full-stack systems; deep understanding and practical application of C++ and C# programming languages
  • Strong understanding of one or more high-level scripting languages like Python, JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Strong debugging skills in a game engine-based development environment
  • A track record of consistently delivering effective tools and Automation solutions in game development environments
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, translating abstract challenges into clear and actionable solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Programming, or a related field or equivalent work experience

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).
