We are hiring a Lead Frontend Software Engineer to our CIA team in Portugal! 

This role is to join the Eligibility Individual Journey squad, part of the CIA team. It is a multicultural team composed of people from Brazil, Portugal and Spain.

The CIA team is responsible for providing and maintaining the platform that allows companies to integrate Gympass into their company and employees' lives seamlessly. In other words, we handle the B2B management app. Our main user is the HR user (from the Clients)

It is a full-stack agile team composed of not only other software engineers but also a Project Manager and Product Designer. As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to own and influence how a Company will be able to manage its Gympass benefit. As a Staff engineer, you’ll be actively changing and developing the architecture of the entire web app we’ve created.

You will be expected to develop the tools and the platform that power this initiative while working closely with UI/UX, other engineers and other technical leaders. We also count on your unique view on how we evolve the platform not only technically but also business-wise


  • Technically lead an agile full-stack engineering team
  • Drive the frontend architecture using state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies
  • Advocate new techniques for the rest of the team
  • Partner up with other leads to tackle new features and tech debt
  • Write and review code and tests
  • Pair program with other devs
  • Help and mentor other developers
  • Write and review RFCs
  • Live the mission: inspire and empower others by genuinely caring for your own wellbeing and your colleagues.   • An expert in front-end technologies namely React and Typescript;
  • Someone with deep knowledge of how JS engines work
  • Someone who really understands how aggregation services work (be it a BFF architecture or other JS in the server solution)
  • Someone who understands how GraphQL works and knows how to design and develop its schema;
  • Expert in CSS technologies
  • Expert in CSS-in-JS technologies such as styled-components and emotion
  • Knows and has created build tasks using tools such as webpack and vite
  • Understands the various testing methodologies such as unit, integration and end-to-end tests
  • Aware of what’s happening in the industry and how/if we should adopt it
  • Able to delineate long-term plans for the codebase
  • A believer in automation
  • A team player who can get their point across to technical and non-technical people in English/Portuguese;
  • Used to work with and develop design systems that power multiple teams;
  • A puzzle-solver that uses critical and analytical solutions;
  • Value facts and data to make decisions.

PAID TIME OFF: We know how important it is to take time away from work to recharge. Employees receive a minimum of 25 days paid holiday per year with an additional day for each year of tenure (up to 5) in addition to annual holidays (including an extra holiday on your birthday!).

PARENTAL LEAVE: 100% paid parental leave of 12 weeks to all new parents (of both biological and adopted children, regardless of gender and parent's relationship with the co-parent) + 100% paid birth leave of 14 weeks.
