Overview

Gameloft Bucharest is seeking a Lead Game Designer to drive the creative vision and execution of an unannounced PC/console title built in Unreal Engine.
As a Lead Game Designer, you will be responsible for guiding the game’s design pillars, leading the design team, and ensuring all gameplay systems, mechanics, and content align with the product vision. You’ll work closely with the Creative Director, production, and cross-functional leads to turn vision into compelling player experiences, while also fostering an environment of design excellence and collaboration.

This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for someone passionate about game systems, player experience, and leading teams to deliver high-quality design.

Your main challenges will include:

  • Partner with the Creative Director to define, articulate, and champion the game’s vision, systems, and player experience goals.
  • Own and drive the design strategy from pre-production through live operations, ensuring strong alignment across gameplay mechanics, progression, and content.
  • Lead and mentor a team of designers, setting quality standards, coaching growth, and supporting delivery.
  • Translate design pillars into concrete features and execution roadmaps.
  • Review and give feedback on design specs, prototypes, and builds with an eye for both gameplay feel and production constraints.
  • Collaborate with tech, art, and production leads to balance innovation, feasibility, and execution timelines.
  • Represent the design team in stakeholder meetings, reviews, and cross-discipline planning discussions.
  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation and workflows to ensure clarity, alignment, and scalability of game features.
  • Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and areas for iteration across all design domains.
  • Understand the specific considerations of designing for PC and console platforms. Ensure best practices are communicated and adhered to in the implementation of accessible gameplay mechanics and progression loops.
  • Design fun and immersive gameplay mechanics, systems, and features to execute the game vision through the full cycle of production from concept to final stage
  • Working in the Engine to prototype / improve various features.
  • Produce game pitches/presentations for new games for a multi-disciplinary production team.
