Job Description

About Us

Hungryroot is using AI to build the most consumer-centric food and wellness company to ever exist. We act as your personal assistant for healthy living—getting to know your goals, lifestyle, and budget, and recommending and delivering healthy groceries, easy recipes, and essential supplements for you and your family.

It’s the easiest way to eat healthy, achieve your goals, save time, and discover new foods. We believe food is the foundation of health, convenience should not mean compromise, and that everyone is unique in how they eat and live. That’s why we’re building a future in which healthy living is both easy and enjoyable.

Hungryroot is a distributed team of top talent across 28+ U.S. states. While we have a headquarters in New York City, our remote-first culture emphasizes collaboration, team-building, and flexibility. Expect regular virtual team events, strong ownership and accountability, and an annual company retreat.

About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Product Manager, Inventory & Fulfillment Systems to be a part of our growing Product team. You will be responsible for owning the logic, workflows, and prioritization of our inventory and fulfillment-related systems — ensuring they operate reliably, scale effectively, and balance technical, operational, and customer experience tradeoffs.

This role will join Hungryroot’s Product team and you will report directly to our Senior Director of Product Management. In this critical role you will drive clarity and alignment across Engineering, Data Science, and Operations to optimize core system behaviors such as inventory logic, shuffle rules, overmax thresholds, and alerting frameworks. We are looking for a highly analytical, systems-oriented product leader who thrives in complex, cross-functional environments. If you want to help us change how people grocery shop and eat for the better, we encourage you to apply!

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for systems that power inventory allocation, order release workflows, and fulfillment and delivery logic, including automatic order content adjustments, allocation rules, and over-max or oversell protections. Oversee the evolution of internal tooling that enables these capabilities.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, and Operations to translate complex operational rules into scalable product solutions. Define requirements, drive prioritization, and deliver system improvements that increase reliability, automation, and operational efficiency across the fulfillment lifecycle.
  • Identify structural system risks and inefficiencies, and lead cross-functional efforts to resolve root causes — not just symptoms.
  • Establish clear monitoring, alerting, and visibility frameworks to proactively manage inventory health, demand overage, and customer risk.
  • Facilitate alignment and decision-making when tradeoffs arise between technical feasibility, operational complexity, and business impact.
  • Publish structured updates and maintain clear documentation to ensure transparency around priorities, risks, and system changes.
  • Continually integrate AI processes into your workflow and into system wide solutions for Operations and Fulfillment

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of Product Management experience, preferably in platform, systems, operations, or supply chain environments.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to understand and reason through complex logic flows and technical tradeoffs.
  • Experience partnering closely with Engineering and Data Science teams to ship backend or platform improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize across competing initiatives with clear business judgment and risk awareness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a structured, clear approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and driving alignment across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with inventory, fulfillment, marketplace, subscription, or logistics-driven businesses is a plus

Perks & Benefits

  • Remote-first: work from home, work from our NYC office, work from anywhere in the U.S. - you decide!
  • Equity
  • Unlimited vacation policy
  • Universal paid parental leave
  • Monthly Hungryroot credit for delicious, healthy groceries
  • Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Wellbeing benefits including One Medical, Spring Health, LiveHealth, Rightway care concierge, and more
  • 401k with match
  • A work from home stipend to support your initial home-office setup

Expected Pay Range:
$180,000 - $210,000
