The Legal Coordinator will serve as an integral members of the in-house legal team of the Detroit Lions, implementing contract management and other legal operations systems and assisting attorneys on a wide range of corporate, commercial, and governance matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Legal Coordinator will have daily responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:

  • implementing and maintaining contract management systems and tools to ensure effective administration of contract life cycle.
  • working interdepartmentally to implement and improve on existing workflows and identify new systems to improve efficacy. Includes interdepartmental collaboration to understand priorities and training stakeholders and new staff on workflows and best practices.
  • Serving as point-of-contact for legal systems to ensure that agreements, documents, and requests are timely addressed and move expeditiously through review workflows.
  • Processing requests for various forms, including: waivers & releases, sweepstakes rules, NDAs, location agreements, vendor forms, sponsorship agreements, master services agreements, etc.
  • maintaining and updating legal forms on a regular basis (annually), including: waivers, sweepstakes rules, NDAs, location agreements, vendor forms, sponsorship agreements, master services agreements, organizational policies, employee documents and handbooks.
  • Understanding the Club's risk mitigation and insurance practices, including the drafting of insurance clauses and processing of COIs.
  • assisting in the protection, licensing and use of trademarks and other intellectual property, including the drafting, issuing and tracking cease and desists.
  • researching various legal/regulatory issues; provide summaries, recommendations and guidance to internal staff.
  • developing knowledge of applicable NFL league rules and policies, and serving as a point-of-contact for League approvals processes
  • managing legal projects to advance legal team initiatives and drive on-time legal response
  • administrative support, including attorney calendars and legal docket management, document and binder preparation, meeting coordination, and hosting legal guests

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • High level of personal integrity, professional ethics, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Strategic problem solver who is solution oriented and works well within a working team
  • Ability to create, maintain, and leverage an effective legal filing system
  • Excellent project management skills, able to meet tight deadlines and execute long-term projects
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish trust and credibility among all types of staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Collaborative across departments and work teams
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality when working on highly sensitive projects

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience leading a legal operations function and/or managing complex projects for in-house legal department
  • 2- or 4-year degree or paralegal certificate (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Demonstrated understanding of legal systems and technologies and vendor management
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to learn new programs.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including some nights, weekends, and overtime
  • Reliable transportation to and from work locations
  • Requires work out of both the Ford Field Management Office at Ford Field Stadium and the Detroit Lions Training Facility at Allen Park
