The legal team is an internal service provider that supports Sportradar's fast growth by ensuring a solid and secure foundation.  It includes several divisions to ensure integrity and trust are met and exceeded, including Corporate & Employment Law, Privacy, Litigation, Compliance & Risk, Commercial Sales Legal and Sports Partnership Legal.

For the latter legal sub-unit, the Sports Partnership Legal team, we are looking for a talented Legal Counsel to serve Sportradar’s Rights & Sports Partnership division by providing legal support and negotiating licensing agreements within the acquisition and management of partnerships with sports rights holders, such as major international sports leagues and federations (such as NBA, MLB, Bundesliga, UEFA or ATP) on a global basis for the entire Sportradar Group.

The Legal Counsel Sports Partnership will be working as part of an experienced and international legal team. This role being based in Munich, Germany will act as an interface between Sportradar’s regional and product teams, the commercial Rights & Partnership unit and the legal department, to ensure consistent legal project support and maintenance of our identified contractual standards, e.g. for the scope of commercial rights.

THE CHALLENGE:

• Drafting, negotiating, administering and supervising audiovisual and data licensing as well as service agreements (in English and occasionally German) relating to the betting and media industry
• Legal support and involvement in sports’ rights holders tender processes
• Elaborate, research and provide legal opinions, particularly relating to IP and media law and the regulatory framework related to the same
• Providing general legal advice and training to the operational/commercial teams of Sportradar
• Administrative and other project tasks within the area of licensing, undertake portfolio/contract management tasks
• Constant coordination with other internal stakeholders/corporate units (compliance, privacy, tax, etc…)

YOUR PROFILE:

• Media and contract lawyer with 4+ years of relevant corporate experience (preferred) or in a law firm
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial law and expertise in commercial contracts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in German is beneficial, but not required
• Flexible to adapt to changing priorities and able to work to tight deadlines
• A strong understanding of the sports and, ideally, the sports betting, ecosystem including the political, legislative and economic landscape.
• An understanding in relation to data and audio-visual content and how such content is commercialized would be desirable
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work autonomously using sound judgment to make difficult business decisions when necessary
• Strong relationship management and collaboration skills
