SkyBox Labs is looking for an experienced Lighting Artist to help bring the worlds of Destiny 2 to life! You'll collaborate with talented teams to create immersive, memorable game spaces. This includes crafting evocative moods and guiding player perception with stunning real-time lighting. It’s a highly iterative process, working closely with World Artists and Designers from concept to final polish, to ensure your lighting is visually striking, performant, and seamlessly integrated with our artistic and narrative goals.

A snapshot of your role:Create and implement complex real-time lighting for game worlds using proprietary toolsetsActively contribute to the highly iterative lighting workflow, collaborating closely with World Artists and Designers from functional passes to final polish to meet gameplay needs Assist in establishing early lighting ideas and hues, shaping the environment’s visual direction and mood Develop dynamic/scripted lighting elements, character/object lighting setups, and in-game narrative content Work closely with leadership, Art Direction, and cross-discipline teams to maintain Destiny 2's lighting aesthetic and technical standardsProvide constructive feedback to fellow artists and designers, enhancing team collaboration and overall project qualityStay up to date on new developments in real-time rendering Sound like you? This is what we're looking for:Strong artistic eye for lighting, shadow, and color to creating engaging, mood-driven spacesSolid experience lighting characters and environments (interior & exterior, various times of day) using real-time techniquesGood understanding of composition, materials/shaders, PBR, and real-time lighting/rendering technologies Ability to propose and adapt lighting references for high-fidelity visualsStrong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and participate in an iterative team by giving and receiving feedbackExperience with and passion for games, with a proven track record of successful gameplay lightingA strong real-time lighting portfolio
