Wasserman Events manages and operates multiple events on the PGA TOUR and LPGA; additionally, Wasserman Events organizes several corporate events throughout the year and consults for key sponsors on their golf partnerships including Title Sponsors and Presenting Sponsors across the professional golf landscape.

Summary:

Wasserman Events is seeking an experienced Account Executive skilled at marketing and project management and also possessing golf knowledge for a dual role in its Golf division.

The individual will form part of the year-round tournament staff in Los Cabos, Mexico, for the PGA TOUR’s World Wide Technology Championship and also be part of the account team servicing and consulting for a Title Sponsor of another PGA TOUR event.

The individual will be expected to support on additional events and will report to the Senior Vice President of Golf & Events overseeing both projects/clients.  Primary responsibilities will include project management of marketing initiatives and execution of event programs within these two professional golf tournaments.

Event/Client Overview:

Held annually in Mexico, the World Wide Technology Championship is a full-field PGA TOUR FedExCup event which has been managed and operated by Wasserman Events since the founding of the tournament in 2007.  Last year, the WWT Championship entered a new era as it relocated to Los Cabos after 17 years in its previous home of Riviera Maya.  By virtue of now being located in Mexico’s leading golf destination, there exists tremendous and unique untapped potential to enhance the WWT Championship’s profile, visibility, attendance and, most importantly, revenue.  Further, the position will form part of the Account Team servicing an additional PGA TOUR Title Sponsor client.  The Manager will support the implementation of the client’s activation, pro-am participation, VIP guest support, etc. at its PGA TOUR Signature Event as well oversee the execution and operation of the client’s annual celebrity charity golf tournament.

Key Responsibilities:

WWT Championship Marketing:

  • In conjunction with external creative agency partners and vendors, create and nurture event’s visual look-and-feel through graphic design and consistent application of tournament brand identity.
  • Direct and oversee external agency on all aspects of tournament’s social media presence and activity.  To include the management of strategy and guidance on content via agency as well as the creation and posting of content directly and internally.
  • Manage and supervise external creative agency partners and vendors for the development and production of creative materials including, but not limited to, printed collateral, digital marketing materials, signage, videography, photography, assets such as TV commercials or promo videos, etc.
  • Support Tournament Operations department on tournament signage program, including development/ideation, design/production and installation/tear-down.
  • Execute tournament’s paid marketing campaign including local print advertising, online digital marketing, television commercials, etc.
  • Implement grassroots marketing initiatives in local region to drive tournament attendance and local market sales.
  • Together with tournament staff and external creative agency partners, manage the creation and printing of official tournament publications (spectator guide, participant handbook, sponsor fulfillment reports, etc.).

Title Sponsor Project Management:

  • In conjunction with other members of account team, oversee implementation of contracted sponsorship assets and benefits for Title Sponsor at its PGA TOUR Signature Event.
  • Day-to-day consulting and project management related to activation of the event and sponsorship.
  • Together with external corporate event planner and rest of account team, plan and conduct Title Sponsor’s Pro-Am Pairings Party.
  • Management of a variety of vendors involved in the activation of the Event’s sponsorship (e.g. merchandise procurement, photography, video production, artists, etc.).
  • Oversee and execute other client events during PGA TOUR tournament week.
  • Plan, manage and execute the client’s annual celebrity charity golf event, in conjunction with rest of account team.

Requirements

  • Fluency and full professional proficiency of English, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Spanish language skills, while not an essential requirement, are a tremendous plus.
  • Knowledge of professional golf tournaments and the PGA TOUR landscape.
  • Intimate familiarity with social media and best practices for content creation/community management in a golf setting.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience in the implementation and activation of golf sponsorships and Event Management.
  • Willingness to understand and adapt to cultural differences and business practices in Mexico.
  • Ability to identify unique and different personalities across a variety of clients and constituents and navigate each appropriately to obtain satisfaction of said personalities and achieve necessary results.
  • Unrelenting resilience to perpetually face unexpected challenges and constantly find and implement outside-the-box solutions which result in the consistent delivery of excellence.
  • Must enjoy working in an intimate team atmosphere, maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced and often stressful environment.  Able to work under pressure and on deadlines, often for long hours and extended periods without a day off.
