The overall safety and security of Surf Ranch is critical to the site, staff, and guests visiting Surf Ranch and the Site Safety team will be responsible for this undertaking. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Safety, the Health Safety Security & Environment Manager (HSSE) at Surf Ranch works to keep Surf Ranch safe and secure at all times. The security staff member on duty is responsible for all vehicles and guests that arrive and depart Surf Ranch daily.

The security of Surf Ranch is critical and can directly affect the overall guest experience. This role will provide a safe and secure environment for all occupants of the property by ensuring that the premises are maintained in accordance with all laws, regulations, and codes pertaining to safety and security. The HSSE Manager will provide guidance and assistance to Site Safety Officers in all matters relating to the safety and security of the property. Additionally, the HSSE Manager will provide input, implementation, adherence to protocol, and guidance in the development, writing and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines for the property with direction from the Senior Director of Safety. 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Interface with guests and employees as they enter Surf Ranch through the gate Bird system
  • On property for guest’s safety/security to maintain a friendly and welcoming attitude
  • Assist with overnight accommodation check in and out processes
  • Intervene and resolve security threats or issues as they arise
  • Understand the Surf Ranch property lines, easements etc.
  • Patrol Surf Ranch on a consistent basis and monitor the property perimeter and promptly report or solve any issues.
  • Understand the Surf Ranch security/ emergency evacuation plan
  • Knowledge and understanding of facility locations and storage
  • Key storage and access are maintained
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow up and execution
  • Knowledge and understanding of IROAR Culture & initiatives
  • Remind guests, patrons, and employees of safety and security policies with an attitude of dignity and respect, maintaining a positive and welcoming environment
  • Follow, understand and enforce safety and security specific policies and procedures to Security and Surf Ranch staff
  • Communicate and assist outside emergency care providers with information regarding the property when needed
  • Leading the site safety team on directives and protocol determined by corporate and property department directors
  • Ensure proper incident reports are filed and distributed concerning employee injuries working with Water Safety Manager on reporting and submitting paperwork to appointed management
  • Respond to emergencies on the property and take necessary steps to report or correct the situation
  • Use a radio, telephone, email or face to face contact to communicate with guests and employees regarding any safety and security concerns or issues. Will then immediately take steps to solve or report the problem and will follow up with the Department manager
  • Ensure daily shift reports are recorded and accurate and sent out at the end of day
  • Ensure security department meal breaks are taken and attendance is per schedule
  • Maintain first aid kit at the security booth
  • Ensure lost & found log and storage/handling/returns of any items is maintained
  • Ensure package log is completed for all deliveries and packages are handed over to the correct recipient
  • Participate in daily and weekly department pre-shift or briefing meetings
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR to guests during overnight shifts
  • Complete injury reports for guests/workers, and send to Senior Director of Safety for review
  • Complete the workers compensation injury process for employee injuries on duty

Experience and Qualifications

  • Maintain friendly contact and rapport with all employees and take active steps to ensure that all employees feel safe and can trust the security department with any issues
  • Maintain friendly contact with guests, patrons and outside visitors, to create an environment of hospitality and enjoyment among all visitors
  • Provide miscellaneous services regarding customer service, such as carrying and delivering guest items, guiding guests to airstream accommodations, assisting with guest needs or directing them to appropriate point person to handle
  • Provide assistance to other departments upon request such as delivering or transporting of property, assistance with small tasks, and receiving deliveries
  • Ability to resolve conflict when necessary
  • Ability to activate the 911 system and request local law enforcement if necessary
  • Ability to work different hours of the day including overnight shifts
  • Basic Security training
  • Prior Security experience preferred
  • OSHA 3 & 8
  • Basic First Aid/CPR

Working Conditions / Physical requirements (if applicable) 

  • Physically able to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 75 pounds or less
  • The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
  • Ability to comply with physical demands as outlined below
  • Technologically sound with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
  • Must be able to stand in one place for extended periods of time, and to remain on feet for up to 8 hours

Annual Salary range of $67,000-$75,000 based on relevant experience
